Doubt I'll ever even pull one tire in my SS. I don't really want to take it that far. The 61 can tote them for a few feet.
It's always a fun time! I wouldn't say "never" i got my mother's 1970 LS-5 Chevelle SS to pull the drivers front up about 4 inches - stock.

Where's a good place to seek out the LS1 T56 front plate?....I imagine a later year T5 front is not the same....is so please chime in.

Starting to look like it would have to be ordered stand alone from a rebuild shop. Anyone ever seen one otherwise?

An LS1 flywheel is also needed correct?...the LT1 will not do there as well.

I would assume you'd need the curved one that was on the 5.3s with the 4L60Es. 6.0s used the flat ones with a 4L80E from the factory. IIRC the TBSS's use the curved ones with the 4L70E, so it should be the same for your application.

no real updates today/this week.
i painted the valve covers black the coil brackets, waterpump, a/c bracket, compressor, valley cover, and front cover an aluminum color by plastikote. it looks good imho but i wish i would have just cleaned them or had them powdercoated. also have a deal going on a pair of l92 heads so i should be getting close soon.

gonna try to sell the single head i have to fund the valve springs... but tsp wont tell me exactly which ones i need for my cam.

Ok guys its been awhile, I lost interest in the project during deer season, but I'm back in the game!
I purchased all the engine bolts I need from another member on here and a pair of l92 heads. I will take pics when I get the heads and after they have been machined then I need to get lifters pushrods and valve springs. The engine will be sealed. And ready for me to finish the engine bay to drop it in.

I just looked and FULL list/retail price on them are: $49.72 (LS2) and $40.28 (LS3) each. That's not only at the dealership I work at, but GM's set list price for them. It sounds like someone is trying to rip you off.

Yeah sdparts has them for 3x.xx

Valve covers are going to be redone with hydrographics along with the intake manifold. And a coil relocation i suppose to show off the topend.

Here's the big question now, how much can I have my l92 heads milled without having ptv clearance issues? The cam is 229/236 with .65x lift.

Mine is .595" lift and 250*/266* on a 112* LSA. I am pretty much expecting ptv clearance issues with the flattop/no valve relief LS2 pistons and L92 heads. I'm planning on doing the "flycut for free" mod using a couple spare valves and stick on sand paper. There is a thread on here about it. I already bought drill stops for a few bucks at Harbor Freight. IF I turn out to have plenty of room, I'm considering running 1.8:1 exhaust rockers to help out the weaker exhaust ports of the L92's. Haven't checked into mixing aftermarket & stock rockers on LSx motors though.
