I am heading out to the garage now to install the tank. It should be on the road later today!

The tank is in and I took her for a spin! She runs great, but I need to get the exhaust reworked. The rear tailpipes were contacting the rearend and hitting the leaf springs. I messed with them for a bit and then decided to remove them for now.

A local car club got together this weekend and about 15 cars took an 80 miles cruise. We stopped for lunch and later we stopped at Animal Jim's Racing in Lacon, IL. Animal Jim was a 6-time World Champion drag racer over the course of his 40 year drag racing career. When we pulled up to his shop heard all the cars and stepped outside and was he taking picture of our cars. Before you know it he was giving us a tour of his shop and telling us stories of his drag racing days. After an hour or so, we got back in our cars and drove home. It was a great day and the car ran flawlessly!!!

Smile New Magnaflow Stainless Steel Exhaust Installed!!

I took the car in today and had a new exhaust system installed. I went with
MagnaFlow 2.5" Stainless Steel Exhaust with an x-pipe p/n 15896 with four
2.5" Stainless Steel V-band clamps p/n SUM-694250 and had and extra bung welded in each pipe. The Magnaflow's sounds so much nicer than the Flowmaster 40s when cruising, but have a really nice sound when you get on it. Here are a few pics.

Great suggestion! I will post a clip soon. I only wish I had a clip with the old Flowmaster setup on it.

Wow, it really turned out nice. You must be feeling real good about right now being at the finish of the swap.

Rocketrod, you're build has been a big inspiration to my up coming build in my 69. Huge props and beautiful car.

Although I havnt made a build thread yet, I have started the disassembly on mine with lots of pics so far.

I hope you can contribute to it when I get it posted

Thanks Riggs! Yes it does feel good, but there is still a lot of detail work to be done.

Well I have been compiling parts for the winter projects and here is a list of what I will be doing over the winter. The last item on the list, G-link rear suspension, probably won't happen this year as I have just about killed the money tree, but it is nice to have stretch goals.
  1. Installing new side and rear quarter glass
  2. Install A/C
  3. Taking care of a few electrical issues: low alternator output, inoperable tachometer and inoperable speedometer
  4. Get rear seats recovered and redo front seats brackets to lower the seats or replace them.
  5. Installing a wideband sensor and optimize engine tune
  6. Building a support for my cold air intake and paint it
  7. Installing a pc or tablet device to play music, video and display engine gauges via bluetooth through the OBDII port. This will also include installing an amp and speakers
  8. Quiet all the rattles in the car as it currently sounds like a bucket of bolts going down the road.
  9. Having passenger side fender repainted and entire car buffed out
  10. Installing a G-link coilover rear suspension with double adjustable Vari Shocks on all four corners

Rod,

Will the G-link interfere with you're new exhaust pipes going over the axle? I thought I read routing exhaust with a g link was tricky

Yes it will. When I install the g-link I am just going to have custom tailpipes made.

Yes, it was the plan from when we got the cars which was pretty much a month apart. When she got her car from her uncle he had another 69 Z/28 clone and kept poking and prodding me to buy it. At the time I had jus sold my 02 SS and I still had my SSS. I didnt really want another toy but he offered me a killer deal and I got it done.

Mine wont be as mild tho, I plan for a TVS2300 on a forged 408 w/ an 80E on a trans brake. It will be bit before I get to it. I figured iv had fast hot rods so ill build hers first. But once I get this one under my belt things should go pretty smooth with mine. So you would figure lol
