Is DBW setup wirth it?
*No throttle cable to run - only wires, which are much easier
*Hooking up cruise control is really easy
*Big cool-factor
Negatives:
*To save yourself a headache, get everything you need from the car - PCM, throttle body, TAC module, pedal, and wiring harnesses (especially TAC to pedal) otherwise, you can have compatibility problems if you mix and match parts
*Must be able to run a bundle of wires from the pedal through the firewall

How "easy" is hooking up cruise? Anything under dash I might need? Like a convertor box that the cruise switch plugs into?
I am wanting to add cruise to to my 76 camaro and found a website that shows how to convert a 3 wire (stock cruise switch) to a 4 wire needed for the newer cruise set up
Just curious where that will plug into??
Sorry to hi-jack the thread BTW
Another question, what is TAC? You guys keep saying that. I'm trying to get everything for the dbw swap.
1) PCM - Powertrain Control Module
2) Pedal - gas pedal
3) TAC - Throttle Actuator Control module
4) Harness from pedal to TAC
5) DBW throttle body
The TAC Module is a black computer box a little bigger than a deck of cards. It should have two plugs: one that connects to the engine wiring harness, and a second plug that connects directly to the gas pedal. Make sure you get all this stuff when you get your engine!
Also, regarding cruise control, you need to hookup your current cruise control switches and buttons from your car directly to the TAC module. You will need a wiring diagram for your vehicle and for the PCM to figure out what goes where.

TAC stands for Throttle Actuator Control. In Gen III engines, the TAC controlled the Throttle Body based on pedal input and various engine information. As stated, we have the truck stuff in stock. Corvette stuff, however, is getting harder and harder to come by as GM has put production on hold. We are currently working on an alternative to the Corvette setup that IS available and will reduce cost. Keep in mind that the Pedal, TAC, TB, and PCM dont need to come from the same vehicle, although we always recommend trying to get them if you get a pull out engine. But they do need to match. So, if you have a truck setup, you need to run a truck tune. If you have a car setup, you need to run a car tune. Hope this helps.
