Figured id start one of these since i am getting closer to getting it on the road. It's a 91 240sx that i have put a lot of work into, always planned on doing the swap but just took some time.
Picked up the car in Jan of 09 for 300 bucks from a buddy of mine that ran a tow yard. Car definitely needed some work but the frame wasn't bent and i wanted something new so i figured i would save this from going to the jyard.
Here is how she looked the day i picked it up..
Got the car home and started ripping off the crap that was going to be replaced..
Fixed some minor rust and hacked off the old core support...
Welded on the new core support and installed fender braces..
Picked up two good shape fenders, hood, and a bumper. Mounted the headlights..
Started on the body work and wanted to get the car one color..
Picked up some Origin Lab type 2 50mm rear overfenders and a set of fr500 replica wheels. 17x9 in the front 17x10.5 in the rear..
Installed 5 lug, wheels(245/40's front, 315/35's rear), and primed rear fenders to match. I drove the car around a year like this.
Got tired of the primer look so i had it painted lexus desert sage metallic..
So then i finally started buying more stuff for the ls swap.. Picked up a L59 out of a 07 silverado with 20k on it winter before last..
Then picked up this 4l80e for a very good price, just had a buddy do a rebuild with a trans go hd-2 kit on it. Pic was when i first picked it up, just needed a good cleaning.
Ordered the moroso gto oil pan, took about 4-5 weeks to get it.
Motor decided to let go so it was time to pull it..
Car sat like the above for about 6 months while i picked up more parts. Picked up a yank sfi flywheel, ls6 intake/injectors/rail, slp underdrive pulley, FTI 3600 stall, had custom motor mounts made, etc..
Here is how the motor is setting currently with everything installed.
Looking to do something similar to this but with a bigger engine. What are you doing for headers?
Be prepared to beat the living **** out of the trans tunnel and cut out the stock trans mounting points if your planing on the 4l80e as well. Literally had to put it in, see if it fit, then take it out and beat again like 5-6 times. Going with c6 ls2 manifolds for the moment (plan on either doing a turbo setup or longtubes eventually) then 3" on back.
Haven't updated this in quite a while. Finally getting around to installing the turbo/cam/q45 diff, etc..
Shout out to JMB performance for the stainless work on my hot side/cold side and exhaust setup. BOV will be getting powdercoated black as the red just stands out too much.
