Haha, you are correct, it is a spoiler, although wings are more for downforce than lift I would say!

Well the weird knocking noise from the converter area is solved. I am not sure what happened, but I DID forget to put loctite on the flexplate bolts and it appears as though two of them started to back out a bit. The other weird part is it looks as though one of the torque converter bolts was doing the same thing although those were all tight as can be. The hole for the converter was not 100% on. Odd stuff. New Summit sfi flexplate is installed and everything works great now.

Getting the spoiler finished and then I will head out there or maybe paint it first. I have not decided if I want it to look like a piece of junk or not, lol. It is turning out pretty well.

Thanks. I hope it is functional enough. If not I can always pull it and get a super expensive wing I guess.

The only problem I see with it is that it has no wicker at all on the end of it. Pretty much all the others have some sort of angle on the back end of the wing so it provides downforce. All youre doing is pretty much extending the trunk. That wing wont provide any real downforce.

I have looked at that and I am undecided. The main function is to streamline the car and straighten airflow coming off the end. If you wanted much downforce you would do a wing rather than a spoiler. I think I will run it as is before deciding if I am going to try a wicker.

I'd think you'd want your spoiler adjustable like this. Even 1 degree goes a long way with a spoiler. 22* is the do not exceed point from what I've read... on a spoiler..... spoiler.

PS wings create lift... think aircraft. You'd want an upside down wing on the back of your car... spoiler You want it streamline with as little angel as possible to increase down force with minimal drag.

Either way. You can argue terms if you like, but I was taught a wing had air going under it and created downward "lift" and was a wing. A spoiler had no air going under it and was not shaped as a wing shape. I read the same thing written by Ron Sutton who has done a lot with Pro Touring. He refers to them as "wings" if they stick up and have air passing under them and over them.

But I do appreciate your thoughts on this. My goal was to have very close to a zero angle (1-2* max) and if the rear end feels loose I may add some tabs to attach a wicker bill or gurney flap (same thing, different terms).

Just giving you a hard time... I've got an aircraft background so it just seems wrong to me. I've read articles quoting F1 car designers who call them "wings" as well. Upside down wings that do the opposite of what a wing does by definition... but we won't go splitting hairs.

Grab one of those digital angle meters from homedepot. Place it on the trunk (assuming the car is on a level surface) Then place it on the spoiler and it will give you your exact angle. Great for checking pinion angle and a million other things as well.

Good luck... I think it looks cool anyway!

Wing- an airfoil that develops a major part of the lift which supports a heavier-than-air craft.

Oh I have. Currently it is right around 1* up from the ground. More than that from the deck lid though. The deck lid had a downward slope (til the little lip on it) from the window slowly going down. I just am going to have to go about this one by feel and speed as I have no access to a wind tunnel

Going to try it out with slicks. I am hoping to be able to crank up the boost a little higher than 12 psi.
