Mind expanding on those "tricks" so I can go ahead andd try them now before I get all of this back on there? I would hate to pull the whole thing back apart again.

There are a couple. One is get some copper header collector gaskets (they are 2.5") or you can order any size you need. Cut them to size and slide them between the v bands. Or i bought these also. I havent used them yet but i hear they work great.

Gotcha. It almost seems like the clamp is warped. I get them all lined up and as I tighten it down it seems to slide them sideways apart a bit. I have heard that tapping the clamp to "seat it" as you tighten can help break it in and widen out the V slightly. Might try that, but it has been a pain trying to get it on correctly. Also going to do a liberal coating of copper spray

Turbo is on! Along with the downpipe/muffler. That On3 Scavenge pump is LOUD! I think it is louder than my Aeromotive eliminator. But you really can't hear it too much over the exhaust in person.

Honestly I don't know if I will go to a local shop or if I will order one from some place. I was kinda thinking about a Mark Williams driveshaft, but until I have the money I have time to think about it.

To be clear Im referring to 1350 pinion yokes not being an issue with either manufacturer.

Driveshaft SLIP yokes however? Different animal. Ive had good luck with Spicer forged but when in doubt? Mark Williams slip yokes are MINT. Priced accordingly, but top quality pieces. I too have seen lots of carnage with shafts and slip yokes on the boards. Some of them were Chinese knock offs trying to pass for Spicer though so buy from a reputable place

Gotcha, I was talking about the transmission slip yoke. Wonder why that one is more susceptible to being destroyed?

Least amount of splines so its the weak link. Plus the pinion is bolted down TIGHT so it has more to offer strength wise than a slip yoke does

Mark Williams actually has a driveshaft with trans yoke for like $650 which is not terrible for an aluminum drive shaft.

I'm using an AJE k member and trans cross member. I was able to use my old aluminum drive shaft. I went to a junk yard and got a yoke out of an suburban with a 4l80e in it and used an adapter u joint to put the two together. I took the yoke to a buddy with a mill and had him take 3/8th of an inch off of it to get the proper play. I have less than $100 bucks in it. Just trying to give you an option other than spending 650 on a drive shaft.

While I appreciate the thought, I have zero drive shaft currently and don't really want to spend money on something I will not be able to use later on.

As an update, I got the radiator and fans mounted. I am currently trying to figure out why the fan does not kick on when I use the command to turn it on from the ecu. Going to have to dig into that some more. A step at a time! I ran it for about 20 minutes tonight.

That doesnt sound bad for a MW piece. Does it have the billet yoke? Link?

Ive shortened shafts and made shafts before. Balance is a tricky thing. I gave up after about 10 attempts. I had great success with one. I had a sbc CJ5 with a 4spd and it would EAT drive shafts, especially fronts, so I made on up out of a 2500 Suburban front shaft that worked well.

Once I got on these boards I found some deals and stopped building them. Running an OLD version of PST alum in my L92 swap car now, has spicer forged. Works great for me but some of the later versions were less than good.

Yeah they're all around there. Summit sells a real cheapie for 75 bucks or sumn but I havent run one. Dennys has a chromo one around 150 too although i dont know where its made but it looks good. I have a couple here now soon to test.

Im not a big fan of the straps though. They are strong and all but they can easilly crsuh the u joint caps if you dont get them tightened just right. Theres no way to get a torque wrench on them either and one time I had a side come loose so use locktite.

On my car I have the Jegs billet caps now in place of the straps. These things

Those are super nice looking. Looks like some serious hardware too. I might have to try the strange pinion yoke combined with those caps. Could have that going for $140 which is not terrible.

Something I have been trying to clear up. I see a couple places that list a "truck" style transmission slip yoke for the TH400 and 4l80. I have a early style 4L80e, is there a specific trans yoke that I need to be looking for? I also see there are differing lengths. What length should I get?
