Love the build

Love the plate

Agreed on the aluminum block

I wish I had the time and skill to execute a build of this magnitude. This is a very tasteful and well though-out build that I wholeheartedly agree with. Well done I look forward to the rest.

Trans is back and it does appear that they used the XL tail section (although I cannot say with certainty). I don't know the details yet though. Either way, the shifter is now 30.5" from the block. So this should come through the front of the oem shifter hole and it came with a short remote shift rod to place the actual shifter dead center in the BMW opening. Amazed at how thick the ZR1 pressure plate is. I also got the ZR1 clutch and bolts, flywheel bolts, Spicer slip yoke fitting, BMW clutch lines and some other small bits I was waiting on. I hope to get everything in the car this weekend. Now I am just waiting on someone to finish the 3" conversion on my headers. I definitely want to put them in when I put the motor in for ease of install.

Does anyone know if a specific starter is needed with an LS9 flywheel?

Not sure, but given how GM does things I'd be surprised if it did. Pares are extremely interchangeable across various LSX platforms. I can't see them specing a new "LS9-only" starter. Instead, they design the clutch around the existing one. But again... I really don't know.

The starter is the same, however, the LS9 uses a different pattern for the flywheel. Did you get an aftermarket "hybrid" flywheel?

Indeed I did. D&D selected everything to work with the Thomson 427.

Does D&D sell that flywheel? I don't see it listed on their website.

Zip has been around forever. I remember going there with my dad once when I was only about 7 or 8 years old. When I was in there, the phones were ringing off the hook. A guy from Australia called to order parts while I sat there. Seems they must do a ton of biz. Amazing for such a small place.

I live just East of Richmond, about 20 min from Mechanicsville. Small world isn't it?

Thanks for the compliment!

Found it, thank you!

Do you think that you can do me a favor? Before bolting everything to the engine, would you mind bolting the clutch to the flywheel and them measuring the total stack up height? Meaning, the distance from the flywheel/crank mounting surface to the tips of the spring fingers?

Knowing this distance will let me know if I can use this in my application.

Thank you...

Andrew

I saw that the threads on the bolts have blue coating. Can those be re-used when just tightening but not going with the full torque? If so, I have no problem doing that.

OEM master is mounted and hooked to the pedal. As are the OEM hard and flex lines. I also just ordered the TR6060 hydraulic line fitting to -4AN male, female -4AN to male -4AN 90, 10" -4AN female/female SS brake line and a -4AN male to 10 1.0 bubble flare fitting. Then the clutch system will be all done. The plan is still to get the engine and trans in the car Sunday. I hope to get my headers back in by then but if they aren't done, I will just drop everything and not bolt it up so I can hoist it back up a few feet for the headers install early next week. It's getting so close now! I got my other Borla XR-1 today and will be ordering twin flomaster 3" spun semi metallic cats this eve.

Transmission is ready to go in it's home. No clue what tail section that is.. It's like a shortened version of the GT500 Tremec XL.

Got everything in the car. Shifter lines up perfect. My friend came over to do some wiring for me. Wired the fuel pump and bypassed the EWS. Also put the LSD assembly back together.
