The rear and side doors have a left-to-right hump in them. So when you look down the side it looks like crap because the body would never be ‘straight’. So I am replacing all 4 lower door skins. My cheap brake couldn’t handle the bends (and mine is not a finger brake) so I had a metal shop fab them up. I am doing the top to bottom curve with a shrinker.

Flat from side to side!
Nice fit
I made a recessed piece that will allow me to flush in the SuperVan emblem in the middle of the 2 doors. This is similar to a new Sprinter van that has the Mercedes emblem between the doors. The emblem will swing with the right door. I will have a piece of plexi with red LED’s sandwiched between the emblem and a backup plate- this will be my third brake light.

Door skin clamped up for welding
Butt welding in process
Cutting out my new door skins- no turning back
Recessed emblem pocket in place
Starting to weld it in. I will be going very slow so I don’t warp the new skins.

Received the plexiglass and aluminum back up plates from the water jet shop. Overall they are decent but I kind of expected a better fit and a better quality (notice all the holes in the plexi are chipped).
