LS7 clutch and flywheel

Does anyone know for sure if a LS7 flywheel and clutch will be compatible with my '03 4.8 and a '99 Fbody T56? Hoping it's a direct bolt in.

I would ASSUME it is. When I bought my T56 I got an LS7 clutch and flywheel along with it. Guy was running it in a 3rd gen RX7 with an LS1/T56 swap.

I have not tried to bolt up the flywheel to my 5.3 as of yet and engine and trans are in the car for mockup at the moment.

Direct bolt in yes but its not enough clutch for a boosted engine and heavy car. McLeod RXT is what you want

The LS7 pressure plate and clutch disk wont line up on an LS1 style flywheel. You have to use the LS7 flywheel. But if you have the whole setup it should work fine.

I have a Spec twin disc but when I put it together on the bench, it doesn't seem to have much distance between the flywheel and pressure plate. I've installed many stock clutches and they all have like 3/8 to 1/2 inch when you tighten it up. This one might have a 1/16 of an inch. I have no experience with performance clutches. Is this normal? I would hate to install it and it slip.

Measure the disk puck thickness with a caliper and call spec to see if they are still within useable range. If not perhaps buying a couple new disks for that clutch is your best bet, they chatter from what Ive read but they sure hold a ton of power, certainly a **** ton more than an LS7 clutch will ( although out of mere curiosity id like to see an LS7 in your car go ).

Be sure to measure the stack height of the complete set up before installation to see if you need a shim for the slave though.
