Default 1980 Malibu My new project

Well it was time for a new cheaper car after i sold the C6 so this was my choice

Started tear down of the car last night but bought it as a roller with trans Sunday.

Has some goodies and car was complete and running when i arrived to get it (pulled the motor in the guys driveway) Had a 400 small block 406 in it.

Car has 9" Housing with Strange center section with spool and Moser Axles
Slightly Built TH350

Not 100% on the exact specs of the combo I'll be doing but it won't be slow LOL

Last night tore the trans out/gas tank/ fender lines/ all wiring that wasn't factory(car came with full autometer gauges) I'll be replacing some and using some of them/ Took out the factory motor mounts/ Front sway bar/ the entire old fuel system/ cross member.

Will be ordering either TRZ of BMR full upper and lower tubular control arms this week and the Ls1 mount kit next week and get this project rolling.

As far as drag cars go it is really to beat a G-Body Malibu.

If you decide to use any BMR parts let me know and I will definitely see what I can do for you on them.

I love the old Malibus. You got any idea how much its gonna weigh. It will have to be light as a feather or have hells of power to out run your Vette. C6 by far is my favorite

Yea Vette ran 10.62 this car should be a good amount faster when all done.

I look at this way if i could get my old 4,000lb G8 to trap 134+ what could I get this car to trap with the same power as the G8 and even lighter than the C6

I'm going to do as much as i can to get it down a good amount.

Plan is fiberglass front and rear bumpers that will drop 70-80lbs car already has a pin on hood. Tubular front will drop some as well and got some other things in mind.

Shane is at it again. Lots of g body drag cars and street cars. I love my ls swapped wagon. Are you going to do a 6.0 or 5.3 turbo?

Planning on a Lq4 or Lq9
Turbo(still debating sizing)
Th350
9"

Plans for the motor first go around since i'm putting money into all the other components being the best is Rod bolts/Studs/LS9 gaskets. That should last a pretty long time to be honest.

The motor and turbo will be the last things bought along with the converter.

I will need need to swap out the 3.73 Strange 3rd member for a 3.55 for the trap goals in the car, and i'm selling the brand new 26" Mickeys on the car and when it's time i will be doing a 28" Hoosier DR.

I want to get the interior done along with the body and suspension first then move into the driveline and this will give me time to find the right deal on the motor.

Nice, its going to be a beast.

Are you setting the suspension up specifically for straight line use?

I talked to Shane after his first post, we both had supercharged g8's, he's serious about his builds and a turbo is in his future, he's gonna need some wheelie bars with power its going to make. These cars are known for wheels up launches. Its gonna be nasty.
