Thanks for the concern guys, I wore my coat today.

Laying too thick of a weld to cause the filler to drop on you or just an unlucky coinkydink?

Might be a nice time to get a new helmet. I was eyeballing on today made by Titan. It's a bomber helmet with pin up girls on it. Nice looking helmet

I pulled my filler rod away too quick at the end of a weld and it balled and dripped onto the helmet.

I've been eyeballing a few new helmets but haven't deceided quite yet. I'll take a look at Titans selection.

I have a Miller Digital Elite that I use exclusively for TIG work, I like it and haven't had any complaints over the 3-4 years I've used it. It'd be fine for MIG as well if you use that process but I have a cheaper helmet I don't mind the spatter getting on when I use the old metal caulk gun. Works well with low amp welding too which some of the less expensive masks have issues with. I'd probably go with the Digital Infinity with the bigger viewing area now. I've heard good things about the Jackson TrueSight II but haven't used it personally.

My current helmet is a Jackson and I really like it. It would definitely benefit from a larger viewing screen and a better way to protect the sensor.

All 16 junctions are complete. Pretty happy with how they all came out. A few boogers here and there but for the first round I'm satisfied. Now begins the issue of welding door bars.

Thank you sir!

Pulled it outside to put the drivers door on so I can start on the door bars.

Keeping to the street car theme, I'm keeping power windows and power locks. The lower half of the doorcard is directly in the way of where an X would go, so I am going to use stock upper cards, and make fiberglass bottom cards. Still looking at options on where to mount the window switches and locks.

Finally figured out why my front speakers never worked. Previous owners superb wiring job. Its a shame because they're pretty decent apline speakers. Not to mention that they weren't screwed in. Only the nasty inner plastic that melted was holding the speaker in place.

I have to admit, this build has gone way further than I thought it would.

Keep up the good (but carefully) work!

Thank you sir! Its a slow and very expensive project, but look forward to a nasty burnout when this thing runs.

You and me both!

Duplicated the first part of the door X over to the passenger side.

Thank you sir! You and me both.

Today's theme was broken equipment. It started with a stripped notcher adjustment bolt.

And then went through two hole saw blades to get a single notch done.

After that was all said and done, I got the door X completed on the drivers side.

Thanks to the generosity of lowes, I was able to finish up the passenger side door X.
