It fits in nice with a truck manifold and heads so I've got plenty of room for my sheet metal intake.

Front side of the control arm mount
drawn up and mocked up in cardboard. I'm boxing in the other side tomorrow. More goodies ship out Tuesday, and I'm ordering my chromoly at the end of this week.

Lower coil mounts and new ball joints showed up so I put most of the front end together.

Looking good, don't forget to rob the outer stub shafts from a pair of axles to stick in the front hubs!

^^Planning too when I can find a decent deal on some used/junk ones. They're $150ish new and I can't really justify spending $300 to cut up perfectly good axles.

Always wanted to LSx swap a GD or Forester, the rear end stuff just gets really expensive if you want to run STi stuff. Really love GC coupes, looking forward to seeing it when its done!

Excuse my ignorance, but why the V9 STI front knuckles, hubs, and STI lower control arms?

5x114.3 bolt pattern and stronger bearings than the original 5x100 hubs, lighter and stronger than the original steel control arms.

I think the GD LCAs have a wider front track too

The sti components are wider by 15mm, lighter/stiffer aluminum construction, allow me to use 5x114 hubs, which are bolt in vs. Press fit. It also let's me bolt on the factory sti brembo calipers and bigger rotors, along with millions more wheel options.

The JDM and usdm stuff of that year is nearly identical, I just happened to find a deal through an importer. The rear set up will use factory sti knuckles as well but will have DSS hubs and I'm making all the suspension links so I can convert over to all hiem joints.

What's the reason for the heim joint conversion? I don't have a whole lot of experience with them, but hear they have some longevity issues due to being exposed to the elements.

Thanks for the explanation - looking into doing my own suby/LS conversion.

No play in suspension components allows for consistent handling and a predictable car. With custom lateral links I'll have no play in the solid heim rod ends and a couple inches of width to be adjusted from the threaded ends. Stock sti components are alright but if I can build it cheaper and better why not?

Even though the car is going to be used a lot in straight lines like mile runs/highway pulls I don't want to lose the original nimble feel of the car. I know it won't feel the same as when it was stock n/a 2.5 but I still want the raw, tight feeling of more track oriented suspension set up.

Keep on pushing. This thing will be crazy.

Thank you sir. That's what I'm hoping for!

Should be enough to cover front and rear subframes, trans mount, and tunnel. Unfortunately I'm on Christmas break tomorrow until next year so progress will be stalled for the time being.
