Default Just another turbo s10

just finishing up with my fbody build, and I wished I would’ve had a build thread on it, so I’m gonna start one for my s10. Body is a 94 single cab 4.3/4l60e. Truck is actually a true ss truck. Plan is 5.3, 400 turbo, twin 66/73 vs racing turbos, 9 inch, nothing to fancy. Original plan was getting a gen 3 5.3, keeping stock crank, and using gen 4 rods and pistons, but I ended up finding a 5.3 with wiring, Ecm, intake, and heads for a steal. But it had a spun rod bearing. Thought it might not be too bad but it’s absolutely trashed the crank. So now I’m debating on going forged bottom end or just buying a new crank and throwing a set of gen 4 rods and pistons in. I’ll post somemore pictures tomorrow

The short block. Looks like it hasn’t had an oil change in about 200k miles

Git all the rods/pistons out. Looks like it was run without oil for awhile.

yep. That’s all I was looking for to begin with. Ended up getting this one for 300. Figured the ecm and harness was worth that.

Update: ended up getting a good gen 3 crank and a set of gen 4 rods and pistons. Also picked up a musclecar oil pan, styled after the h3 alpha. Headed to the machine shop Monday to get rotating assembly balanced and new cam bearings put in. Next step is picking a cam vendor. Debating on Ljms and btr.

That pan will hang down about 1" below the cross member just fyi. If your not lowered, you'll probably be fine, but I have about 4" drop up front.

I’m 2 in the front 3 in the back. That’s good to know, I appreciate it.

this was my uncles truck, he passed away in a wreck when i was around 8, it was gave to another uncle, i saved up enough money to buy a 1996 extended cab silverado when i was 15, and ended up only keeping it 2 weeks before i talked my uncle into trading with me, so its been in the family for quite awhile. i've owned it 7 years now. its been a lemon of a truck. has 140k miles and is on its 3rd 4.3. first one the oil cooler line backed out of the filter base and ran it dry at 60k miles, second one was when i had it, several cam lobes were trashed, ended up finding a new long block for cheap so i swapped it in. new engine probably has less than 1k miles. just bored with the 4.3 now i restoring little things on the truck as im building it

Got everything over to the machine shop last week. I’ve been bored with nothing to do so I went ahead and started on my 8.8. Got the long side axle out tonight and am going to cut it down 3 inches and weld it back tomorrow.

You are gonna chamfer a 30* bevel on both sides, RIGHT?

I'll be interested to see you get twins on this. I have thought about selling my single and doing twins just because I think packaging might be easier. I want to keep my a/c and inner fenders, and then it starts getting tight. I think I will have to ditch the factory ac and do a vintage air unit.
