Default installing 2020 Corvette engine and DCT 8 speed transmission in 2007 LS2 Corvette

can LT2 engine and DCT 8 speed automatic transmission of the 2020 Corvette be installed in my 2007 LS2 C6 Corvette

Do they fit in the 2007 C6 Corvette, specially the 8 speed DCT automatic transmission?

Thanks for help.

With enough time and money, yes. Im not sure how anyone would know details on this now considering the car has not been sold yet.

If you mean the new 2020 mid engine Vette, then no, it won't fit. A mid engine drivetrain can't fit in a front engine rear tranny car. I don't know how you think it would.

both LT2 engine and the DCT 8 speed tranny of the 2020 C8 Corvette might be provided from the factory in 2021 camaro so the LT2 engine and DCT tranny might fit in a 2007 Corvette, maybe the engine wiring harnesses of the 2007 Corvette and maybe 2021 camaro can be merged and tweaked to work in 2007 Corvette.

So you mean the front engine Vette. With enough time and money, ANYTHING can be done. But is it worth it? Might as well buy a 2020 Corvette for all the hassle the swap would be. A little more money, but less time. Depends on how much of either you can afford.

As usual, details matter. Most people refer to your C6 Corvette as having a “transaxle”. It doesn’t. It has a version of Tremec’s 6 speed bolted directly to the rear diff housing. If the new mid-engined Vette’s DCT is part of a true transaxle, then fitting it to your Vette OR to the 2021 Camaro falls into the category of “you can MAKE anything work - time/money”. If it’s configured like the current Vette (separate tranny/diff) it can probably be more easily refitted to other vehicles.

Given how cheap the new one is I'd be willing to bet you'd come out ahead money wise simply buying one, plus you'd get all the evolutionary improvements of the new chassis. That aside, would be an interesting project to see attempted.

My fear, especially given the birthing complications, is that “cheap” will be the proper adjective to use. GM moving along the Ford continuum - no longer a “car” company.

Clarified today - the new midengined Vette has a true transaxle. The bulk of the transmission/rearend combined unit sits BEHIND the rear axle. So fitting it to a front engined car is a no-go. However, remove the driveline and backseat from a Prius, and after some surgery, LT2 midengined Toyota w/8spd DCT is possible. 😎

Took some preliminary measurements by scaling a photo -- I believe the drivetrain will go behind MY front seats as well.....move fuel tank to the front....jus' sayin'.....

Let's face it.....it would be cheaper and a lot less hassle to just buy the 2020 Vette lol than try to convert.

At this point, you'd have to buy a wrecked one anyhow just to get the drivetrain. But, they're already out there.....
