At the Maxx ECU store...lol

I am not as enamored with them as some others seem to be.

I wasn’t sure if there was a good Motorsport vendor that had good prices. Does the Max. ECU offer the same options/features as turbolamic?

Which ecu does street people normally get if they want to run a 8HP? Not sure if they all can or not.

thanks,

The MaxxECU is not as capable as the TurboLamik TCU for 8HP control. People seem to like the Maxx because it is a "one box" solution.

Are there any capabilities that are missing for a street cruiser? For me, the appeal of the MaxxECU is that I both gain 8HP control and multiport injection with one purchase.

I honestly don't know much about the MaxxEcu. One of my customers fell down that rabbit hole, trying to use a DCT, and his car hasn't been running in about 3 years.

The biggest issue that I see with using MaxxECU is the lack of modestly priced wiring harnesses. I consider myself better than average with car and EFI wiring, but making a dedicated harness from a universal harness is a pretty daunting task, even for me. I can't imagine the average LS swapper having the desire to do that.

Can't find a good YouTube link for the pass. But this car went 8.51 @ 164 with a Maxx controlled LS/8HP70. Likely one of the quickest 8HP cars out there, at least in the US.

That's not the Fastest 8HP70. Here's one in the 7s. I think they've gone faster since then. They use a stock BMW ECU, reflashed I believe.
They are also a MaxxEcu dealer.

Checking in to say this is why I’m interested as well, but I’m still way early in the research phase of my project. I learned about the Maxxecu from Calvin’s channel (Nivlac57).

But after reading Andrew’s comments above I see it may be pretty involved over some other options. Either way I’ll be watching 8hp projects closely!

Have a 4th gen WS6 with a built TH400 I’m planning to go single front mount, really intrigued by the 8spd development and that would be freaking awesome to do.

So after reading the whole thread and the recommended trans is the 8HP70 from a 5.7L(Higher-Stall) 2015-2023 Charger/Challenger.
2015-2023 is covering 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations of these transmissions.
Then there is the number of pins in the connector on the later ones....
Is there a consensus on which is the OPTIMUM year trans to look for?

As I understand it, all Dodge car transmissions are Gen 1.

Generations refers to the model years manufactured - ?
Although the later generations past 2010 are 8HP75 & 76's
2008: Pilot Series
2010: 1st Generation
2014: 2nd Generation
2018: 3rd Generation
2022: 4th Generation

I don't believe that is accurate across all makes and models. At least according to the 8HP Wiki, all Dodge car transmissions are Gen 1.

Is there a concise break down of TurboLamik vs Max ECU capability? As I understand Maxx ecu flashes firmware while TurboLamik solders a board to bypass this entirely. Just curious the limitations of the firmware flash compared to the turbolamik solution.
