I had a 90 GT I was doing this to and I found that headers for a 351 that are made for a stang will line up perfectly the only thing that you need to do is chop off the flange and re weld the flange to bolt it to the ls1 heads. If I am not mistaked that car in the pic that some one posted is done this way. Just food for thought...

Good luck on the swap, but I can't believe that you are doing it on a Mystic car. I'm not sure why you are doing this swap since you already had an S-trim unless it was just for the hell of it. I love the LS-1 engine, but still....

And why am I doing it to a Mystic car?? Cause that's what I own. If I had a Black Cobra or Red Cobra or White Cobra, then I'd be doing it to that car. And this is the 3rd 4V motor I've blown up. Plus, the most power I've even made with the blown 4V was 425, and that was a fluke deal after an hour cool down and some race gas. It averaged around 340 to the wheels. That can be made with a stock LS1 with bolt ons and good exhaust...and be made more consistantly than a blown 4V.

Thanks for that info. I am starting that exact swap shortly and I was wondering how to approach the motor mount fabrication but now it almost seems too easy. Thanks again. Cheers !!!

I just acquired a 94 stang with no drivetrain. The car has an 8-point cage and aftermarket upper and lower control arms attached to the 8.8 rear. I just so happen to have an LS1 and a procharger F1 blower waiting to go into something. So after reading all of the above posts I think I'm going to go for it and install the blown LS1 with a power glide equipped with a transbreak into the stang. I want to use a tubular k-member. So do I get one for the ford small block and use the above mentioned motor mounts? All info will be appreciated.

If you get a tubular K member, you can get one for a 4.6 and use the stock Cobra mounts, or you can get a K member with Chevy mounts and use the LS1 conversion plates.

Sounds like you had problems with the car if you were only making 340 with the blower. Since 2V engines with a blower and nothing else will make 360-370 @ 8psi. Anyway like I said good luck.

The only Modulars worth a damn are boosted, NAs arent worth crap.
Why go thru all the hassle when you can make a LS1 more stout than a built modular?
Thats like taking a step backwards.

Is the difference 2v and 4v heads?
sorry for lack of Ford knowledge.

Motor mounts I would say are probably all the same for all Modular motors. At least in the cars anyways. And about 99% sure all Modular Mustang motor mounts are the same.

I think basically your two options are 4.6 K with slightly modified 4.6 mounts, or the Mustang K with Chevy mounts from AJE with the SBC to LS1 conversion mounts.
