Default '83 El Camino

This is a great site and forum. I currently have a '83 El Camino with a 3.8L 350 Turbo and I've just bought a 2000 Camero LS1 w/4L60E to install. I think this should make for a pretty sweet ride after everything is complete.

'86 Chevy Silverado w/ a 5.3L/4L60E powertrain bolted in:

Now if I can just get a pinout or schematic of the underhood electrical center & harness pinouts, I'd be all set.

Default 4.8 LR4 in s10 Chassis under '46 Chev Panel Truck

Vette C5 motor mounts are great generic mounts! It's cold in Cleveland, so progress in slow at the moment. I'm trying to complete this project on the "super-cheap". I'm at $3,000 including the purchase of the subject vehicle, donor (frame) vehicle, and crate engine. That was supposed to be the entire budget at one time. Not goin to happen! Thank God for sawzalls, welders and ebay!

I'm running the engine with an old EM-Tec3 and a jury-rigged crank trigger wheel. My current problem is finding exactly what is needed to connect a 1991 vintage 700R4 torque-converter (from a 2wd s10 4.3) to the 4.8 LR4 flexplate. All but one of the trans-to-engine bolts look right, but the flexplate/converter issue has me concerned. I was told that the crank on the LSx family has a larger diameter pilot hole for the center hub of the converter to go into. That makes me think that a later 4L60E convertor might work, if it is the same at the front-pump side. I really don't know at this point. One place told me it was $300 for a "kit", another guy told me to elongate the converter bolt-holes in the flywheel a teeny bit and simply bolt it all together. Has anyone put an older auto trans on a Lsx family engine? Any insight would be greatly aprreciated compmikey-AT-aol.com - Cheers, MV

I dont need any of these parts I have shown below, if you are interested let me know, I hope this information helps !!!

Here you go LS1/Gen3 to 700r4 Flywheel..

Wanna buy it ?? I am not going to need it. I am going LS1 and 4L80e.

This flywheel allows conversion from the Gen 3 crankshaft to a 700r4. It also has correct hole spacing for a 700r4 application with 298mm torque converter bolt spacing (LS1's require 300mm spacing). GM Part# 12551367

Also, consider the following parts that you will need for going with a GEN3/700r4 combo:

BowTie Overdrives TV Cable for the downshifts when you stomp the gas :

Lokar Throtte Cable for the LS1 TB to Pedal: (Lokar Part# TC-1000LS1)

.......and the GM part for the throttle pedal to TB connection:

(GM Part #12565559)

Even if you dont buy the new flywheel or Lokar TV cable from me, I'd STRONGLY recommend this book for your conversion :

The Book is a mandatory MUST HAVE for LS1/6 swap. It has ECM Pin outs, dimensions, part numbers etc. All sortsa goodies inside. (GM PART #88959384)

I hope this infromation helps ease your issues. I try to share this information where/when I can.. Good luck with your swap. I have more pictures and alot more information on my website in the gallery.

We can create a list and link it to the top of this forum as a guide.

I wanted to thank everyone who has gotten the word out about this particular forum, I wasn't sure if it would have an audience but it appears that there is one.

Bonus points if you have info or pics of that 59 Cadillac converstion with the turbocharged LS1 from New Jersey!!!!
