I regularly communicate with about 6 other guys around the country doing LS V8s in Miatas.
Mine's a 94 with T-56, Ford 8.8 rear with Detroit True-trac Posi, 3:73 gears that I've previously run (4 cyclinder) on almost every great roadracing course in the Southwest and West over the last 3 years.

I believe the best posi available now for 8.8 is the Detroit Locker, True-trac model it is NOT a Locker, or clutch packed LSD, it's a Helical Gear design posi bigger than a Torsen, like the GURU designs ($1600.00) used in the Australian V8 Supercars, closest to bulletproof and a real bargin at around $425.00
Build it strong, thrash it and have reliable fun!
it will have
ls1
rack n pinion
4 wheel c4 brakes
t56 tranny
late 80s column , wipers and cruise
17'' magnetos from boyd
Oreolie Orange candee from xotic with silver met. ss stripes and silver ghost flames
vintage air

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I haven't finished the thing or even driven it yet with a V8 and it's already getting a new LS2 is that cool or what?
2001 Vortec 5.3 4L60E NP241
My scout went on a diet it lost 1000 Pounds in weight swaping to the Gen III
over the stock internatonal 800 pound 345 engine. Oh and thats IH small block!

Nice! What size tires/wheels are on that beast? Did RX-7's come 5 lug stock or did you swap'em?
Oh BTW, if you find that K&N cone filter to be a bit restrictive, try the intense performance website. They have some awesome high flow cone filters with a reverse cone nose & wider pleates for better filtration.
