Good to see other LS V8 Miatas, we need more here in Arizona, we only have Ford V8 Miatas to compete against at our local track days!
I regularly communicate with about 6 other guys around the country doing LS V8s in Miatas.
Mine's a 94 with T-56, Ford 8.8 rear with Detroit True-trac Posi, 3:73 gears that I've previously run (4 cyclinder) on almost every great roadracing course in the Southwest and West over the last 3 years.

The real weak point using either the Ford 7.5 or Ford 8.8 is the previously poor selection of posis available particularly if you intend to abuse your car for fun at Track days, Auto-X, etc. As alot of the Ford V8 Miata guys built their cars to the 400 HP point they find the Ford LSDs even Racing models smoke clutch packs in the diffs frequently. Like many old design posis they don't appreciate hard acceleration around corners. I chose the 8.8 not just because of it's beefer construction but it's parts availbility. The 8.8 started in 1983 and is still in current use throughout various Ford models today.
I believe the best posi available now for 8.8 is the Detroit Locker, True-trac model it is NOT a Locker, or clutch packed LSD, it's a Helical Gear design posi bigger than a Torsen, like the GURU designs ($1600.00) used in the Australian V8 Supercars, closest to bulletproof and a real bargin at around $425.00
Build it strong, thrash it and have reliable fun!

I haven't finished the thing or even driven it yet with a V8 and it's already getting a new LS2 is that cool or what?

Nice! What size tires/wheels are on that beast? Did RX-7's come 5 lug stock or did you swap'em?
Oh BTW, if you find that K&N cone filter to be a bit restrictive, try the intense performance website. They have some awesome high flow cone filters with a reverse cone nose & wider pleates for better filtration.

LS1 into a 98 Mustang Gt.
I'm going to document it all on my web site www.LS1Stang.com
I should be getting my LS1 engine today and started tearing out the old 4.6 the other day.
I can't wait to catch some Cobra's off gaurd.
