guys i am new to this and have no idea were to post or start a new thread but i need some help. My buddy has a 2003 chevy 1500 with 280k on it and317 heads the engine final died and i swapped the motor for what i think is a 2002 ls1 with 243 heads ... i need to know what is different with the two engines and what do i need to look out for in terms rewiring and the engine turing on.
i am using the original intake from the truck
differences I've noticed, the cam shaft sensor on the orginal was at the rear of the motor right behind the intake, and the new motor has the sensor on the time chain cover. is the tooth count going to be different or do i just have to extend the wiring harness?
anything else will be great.

Hi to all, I'm in the process of building a 1964 vw notchback. It's getting a full custom chassis kit from chassisworks. Power plant is a ls1 4l60e and 9". Full roll cage 4link rear and fully adjustable shock in all 4 corners,Everything is having to be built to fit this smaller car. like the old saying trying to stuff 10lb of s&!t into a 5lb bag but it's a lot of fun
I'm doing a ls1 swap onto my 1996 firebird.
It's a Chevy 5.3 truck motor, year 2003.
With a 4l60e built transmission that I'm going to put in it.
I already have the ls1 intake,k member, motor mounts, truck harness for 5.3
Ls1 oil pan. I just Need the front drive accessorys. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for looking and god bless!!
