thats kinda a shot in the foot to the ppl over at s10forum.com who are all hyped up about the 2.2 supercharger kit..........a few ppl keep saying V8 is the way to go but i guess 70hp over stock for about 5k is better than 370hp over stock for about the same money but a little more work.........idk. i keep getting the "well the 2.2 gets me better fuel economy......" not with the supercharger and 2 extra injectors it wont.

And that my friends is why I have not even bothered trying to work on this damn 4.3L.

It's the same story all that work almost as much money and I don't care turbo/super is not gonna beat a LSx and then there are ALOT more options if you wanna go the turbo or s/c route.

I bought my truck with the old 4.3l with the supercharger and NOS.... I know it will never compare to what im doing right now, but that video, just makes me want to finish this swap all that much more. going to be lifting the body up sometime this week to get the motor and trans in (thanks for the idea guys), have to figure out wiring also, lost part of our wiring on the truck fram (wires that run across the k-member, I believe they plug in next to each a-arm, abs maybe????) so i will have to find that, need to get the alternator, power steering, harmonic balancer, roll pan, tailgate, driveshaft, exhaust, tranny cross member, electric fans, and a few other things

ok I was just brain storming here. I know that the 5.3 never came with a manual trans. I'm not about to pay for a T56 to go behind a 5.3. So would a 5 speed trans from a 4.8L truck motor work with the 5.3? All I'm looking to do is get a LM7 motor with a manual trans into my 91 S-10 no mods nothing I just want a nice little V8 S-10 to drive around daily. I already have my V8 MGB and a LS1 RX7, now my truck needs a V8 to.

yes, it uses the same block as the 5.3. the only thing i would be concerned about would be the input splines or diameter of the shaft.
BTW you want an L33 from a truck. the LM7 was a low emissions engine for vans and SUV's. the LM7 was an iron block engine and the L33 was an all aluminum engine and it produced 310 hp.

yea but you will pay for that L33 too. What did that motor come in? I'm trying to do this swap for cheap, I mean not dirt cheap because I know how these things go I have done five V8 swaps already but I just want my nice DD back on the road in the shortest time possible here.

So far this is what I'm thinking for parts.
5.3L Truck motor
4.8L 5 speed manual trans
JTR mounts and radiator
Fuel pump 255 and fitings
I have my 01 F body exhaust manifolds
LS1 intake

then its just the little odds and ends parts.

Do I sound like I got everything almost here for the big parts.
I know what needs to be cut for AC and the oil pan. Is there anything else major I'm missing here.

PCM, LS6 intake (flows a little better), steering linkage, Corvette Accessory drive system...........

The L33 came in the 1500-2500 silverados.

You are jumping a little far ahead on the performance parts here I'm just looking to get it in there right now; I’m not new to the LS1 game as far as performance goes. I already have a LS1 intake sitting here. I'm looking to get a full pull out on the 5.3 harness and computer with full accessories. I was under the impression that the truck accessories would work or could be made to work.

i think they can, but im not sure. you will have to sift through the rest of this thread and find out. LS1 intake < truck intake. truck intake makes more torque down low due to the longer runners. an LS1 intake is better for all around driving and more high end power. if your looking to just get a good daily driver, i searched a junkyard's inventory just now and you can get an iron block 5.3 with 285 hp -transmission for 350 bucks with 34k miles on it. and an NV3500 can be had for next to nothing.......

Now you are thinking what I am. Compared to a LS1 T56 combo this is cheap. I have been looking on www.car-part.com a full pull LM7 was 750 and that 5 speed trans I saw for 600 this was just the first few I saw. Was that motor you looked at a full pull out with everything?

www.waltsauto.com
it would cost you an arm and a leg to have it sent down to SC.

correction, the truck intake flows better and delivers much better torque down low, but it peaks at about 5000-5500, where as LS1 intake has much better top end

LS2Sonoma... got any picturesd of your swap? I would like to see the LS2 in an S-10, I have seen plenty of LS1's. did you keep the ETC or go to a cable throttle body? Is it run by the LS1 or LS2 computer?

it all depends on what you want. the LS1 intake is better for power or they would have put a truck itake with longer runners on the F-bodies. the longer runners produce more torque which is what you need in a truck. not that you dont need it in a car, but you dont tow a cruise ship into dry dock with a Camaro. lol
