Keep an eye in the classifieds. Just look for someone doing a complete part out, should be able to get them pretty cheap.

Does anyone with a CPF harness for the 98-02 s10's know if it uses an external ignition relay that he has wired into the harness. Or, does it use all of the fuses as per the gm diagram and no external relay. I know he has one or two for the fans. This would be the same relay function that is used in f body and truck harness from the factory to supply power to the coils and injectors.

I am pretty sure it uses all of the factory stuff from the S-10. Only extra relays should be for the fans.

My harness will be here in about two/three weeks........I could let you know then for sure, but I think it is all factory stuff (-fans) as mentioned above.

I actually just split open my v6 harness last night in the process of building the harness. When I laid it on top of my 6.0 a lot of the important sensor wiring on my v6 harness will fit with a little shifting and moving. So I think what I am going to do is weed stuff out of the fbody harness that is to short etc and use a lot of the existing stuff and then add in the injector and coil wiring etc. My big thing is that I am trying to run the harness for the pcm down around the back and either over the top of the a/c box and then to the pcm or under the accumulator and up to the pcm. To do that with the fcar harness is going to mean lengthening a lot of stuff whereas the v6 harness is nice and long.

Thanks, there are more pics of it up now. With the stock shortblock we hope it'll go into the 5s in the 1/8th and with an LSx based motor and 6 bolt head stuff we're shooting for something in the mid 5s on drag radials.

For those of you who have used a truck pan on your build, you obviously had to notch the cross member, but my question is how close does the pan sit from the top of the cross member, mine is pretty darn close, maybe 1/4" if not a little less. Its nothing that an engine limiter wont prevent from being a problem and im not to worried, just curious as to weather or not others have noticed this/done anything about it.

Also, for anyone wondering about bolting in an explorer 8.8 with the stock spring perches. I took this picture and i thought it would help to show people how the spring perches on a stock 8.8 compare to a stock 10 bolt. This picture was taken with the driver side bolted up so all the difference is shown on the passenger side. The difference is taken up between both sides once fully installed so its not really as extreme as it looks. I had to pull mine together using the u-bolts, but i think it was somewhat due to the fact that I have brand new springs and bushings which made things a good amount stiffer.

Ignore the blocks, they arent installed. It just helps to show the difference.

Why not just weld on some new perch's so your springs are not on a bind all the time?

I agree, but it can be a bolt in swap for many people who may not be able to weld themselves. many people have done the swap like this and so far i havn't heard of any problems.

Hello. Just checking in. Wanted to let the other s-10 LS-1 swappers that another one will be on the road this year. I've read a ton in just this thread alone. Hoping to steal my 8.5 diff from my '93 s-10 to swap in my 1999 extra cab 2wd Sonoma.

I just bought a 5.3 truck motor with all the stuff as a drop out. Looking foward to installing it this summer. Then shooting over to Kooks exhaust in NY to have them make some one off long tubes with cats in at least a 1 3/4 primary.

Future mods are swapping the 5.3 longblock for a 382 LS-1 based stroker with my ETP 215's and cam package from my 2004 GTO. Cause that's getting a 402 stroker next year.

As of now, this weekend I am taking out the stock 4.3 and leaving the trans for now. I will use it to help moc up the blown (bad block) LS-1 so I can cut the frame for the truck oil pan I just picked up. And check all the A/C pump clearances. As well as cut the frame for that.

Just an FYI, I am an auto tech and have a ton of knowledge about the mechanical aspect. It's just the electronics side of it.

I'll update with pics soon. This weekend is the teardown.
