'71 Chevelle - LS1/T56 - In progress
#422
The car officially hit the street last night. She made her maiden voyage in the dark even. The headlights were shining and the exhaust rumbled oh so nicely. I totally eyeballed the alignment caster/camber wise and used a measuring tape to set the toe. I couldn't believe how straight it went. It still needs quite a bit of tuning work and I will be taking it for an alignment tomorrow. Hopefully we can get some more tuning done later in the week and my bro and I are gonna hit Eckler's Camarofest this weekend. I'll get some more pics and a vid up sometime this week. Keep looking for updates. When you see a beat up Chevelle driving around you better think twice.

Stealth... Glad to hear that your back on the Streets again.. Bet you feel great that it is!.. even with all of the little things that is left.. How much did you push it ?..
I guess I will have to stop ragging on you to get it running !.. LOL... But, its been a great few years communicating with you and the other swappers .. many of you guys have been a great help with me and getting mine running.. I only hope that I have passed on the help to you guys who are about to get yours running..
Well, I am off to Infineon tonight to make some 1/4 mile passes.. I don't expect too much, only using street tires.
Have fun !

This is a great community and I enjoy helping out when I can. I haven't pushed it much. Still need to tune the upper RPM's so I've actually only hit 4600 rpm and 52mph the other day. Now that I have it aligned I can take it on the highway and try the WOT button. It definitely feels like a new car, but it's been so long since I drove it last I probably don't notice as much of a difference. I also have yet to really get on it or throw it into a corner.
I will scan my alignment specs tonight. Kinda funny looking at my garage alignment when we first pulled it on the rack. Had 10* of caster. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get some more pics and vid this week/weekend. Going to the Eckler's Camarofest on Saturday.
It is a blast to drive so far. People mostly look past it because the body is pretty beat, but the sound has definately turned some heads.

My Brother and I took our cars out to the Eckler's Camarofest yesterday. I think the Chevelle was a hit. There were only 2 LS swaps and the other was a high dollar LS7 Camaro. People were flocking under the hood and asking tons of questions. I think my 11.5lb battery confused many. My brother has the WS6 in the pics. It's highly modified BTW. We had a blast crusing over and back. Finally got the car up to highway speed and it cruises very nice. I had heard these front shocks might be super stiff, but I don't notice it at all.
I have a couple issues to fix. Of course the brand new brake master I bought has a leak from a seal on the plunger and fluid is slowly dripping from in between the booster/master. My passenger door lock also decided to disconnect itself from the lever/plunger thing at the top of the door.

Sound like you have a great time and got a lot of attention.. I know how you feel.. I have won a few awards with mine and on most shows and cruise in's..I get asked questions all the time from many that want to start a swap... or just want to know what kind of engine it is ! Many get a weird look when they see all of the coil and my custom cowl induction system.
I have even gotten stopped by a few that have said they have seen and read my threads and post on here !
Now if we can only get you to put on some paint ! LOL it I'll be one Killer CAR with Looks and Speed with the latest tech !
Keep us informed !

Glad to hear you had a great time. I was gonna put mine in a show on saturday as well but O-State Football took importance over the show. Glad to hear you didn't have any major hiccups and that it drove well. Its great to just enjoy driving after all the work you have put in.

Took it out for some tuning and dyno time today. I was going for 400+ and 20+mpg, I know one of those is off the list. Now I need to see what the fuel economy is like. I know the gas gauge hasn't moved much.

Might take it out to the 1/4 sometime soon. I know it needs stickier tires cause traction in 1st and 2nd is limited even with 3.31's. I built it to hit the road course so I need to start working on that as well.
