Default Help, motor won't stay running!

I've got a 67 camaro with a 2002 Camaro ls1 motor in it. I have the 1998 computer and Painless wiring harness for the 1998 Ls1. The only difference according to painless are the computers and the camshaft position sensor. So i swapped out the cam position sensor, and checked all the other part numbers with the painless wiring manual and everything looks good. I have a big cam and all the smog equipment is deleted, air pump and egr, rear 02 sensors, etc. My problem is that to my knolege everything is wired correctly. I turn the key to run, the pump goes, the check engine light comes on, everything looks good. Turn to start, cranks for maybee 1/2 a second, fires right up. Runs for aprox. 1 second, then shuts down. Sounds like the computer is cutting spark, not fuel because it does not sputter, it fires strong then immediately shuts off. My first instinct is VATS here, my compuer is stock, however I do have the little painless VATS simulator box thingamig wired into my harness. The only thing I am not 100% sure is right is my fuel pressure, I have an aeromotive regulator. I have tried messing with it, i've had it up to max, and down to min, and it still does the same thing with the start and won't stay running no matter where the regulator is set, so I think fuel pressure is not the problem. I know i need to get a gauge and set it properly, but i'd like to have the car running first. I was hoping you guys could help shed some light on this situation. Do you think the VATS module isn't working? Is it a problem with having the smog and rear 02's disconnected? Is it the cam? Texas Speed 231/237. Thanks in advance for your help. Mike.

another question...Is the computer expecting a signal from the oil pressure sending unit? There is not a plug for it on my painless harness.

to my knowledge the sensor is just for the gauge.

I had this problem the other day when I first started mine and I had a vaccum leak. Fired up strong and went to idle down and died. Just something you might check.

If it starts and runs 1 second and dies, it sounds like you still have a vats problem, even though you have the box. Can you check the box or have someone delete VATS from the computer?

Only if you have access to an oscilliscope(sp?), if you do it should put out a 5v 50Hz signal.
