I had an 85 Fiero GT back in in the late 90's and loved that car, even with the stock 2.8 engine and a 5-speed it was fun to drive.

I can't imagine that kind of power in that little car

The motor is a stock Ls7, but everything else had to be made custom to get it to work and fit into the fiero ex: custom headers, custom 3" exhaust, custom CAI, rework the dry sump system, custom Street and Performance ECU, custom trans setup.......Archie will have to fill in the blanks.

Last edited by mrtroyboy; 01-17-2010 at 08:10 AM. Reason: error: change 4" exhaust to 3"

The headers are how big? numbers look good for a mild bolt on LS7. wonder what the drivetrain loss is.

I'm glad to see that the transaxle is holding in there.

Earlier in this thread you'll find that we're using a 6 speed G6 transmission. All the internals have been cyro treated & we have an Quaif LSD

We've now got more than 300 miles in testing on this car. Wednesday, when we did the Dyno runs, we also did about 20 miles of "Run-in" on the Dyno including several runs up to 158+ MPH (the data log stoppd logging speed at 158).

No once during all this, did I even think about the transmission. I stood there looking thru the view finder on the camera & never thought once about the trans.

As you can tell, this car wasn't built for Drag Racing. If Drag Racing was the goal for Troy's car, we would have put that engine in a nice older Camaro. I'm sure this car will never have slicks on it & I'm not saying that Troy won't make a pass or 2 down the drag strip someday but that was not the primary goal for this car.

Every car has a weak point. No matter what kind of car you have, there's something you can do to it to break something sooner than later.

That said, if you read earlier in this thread, you'll note that Troy & I both consider that the trans could be our weak point. Troy has stated earlier that he has another plan for a trans if this one should fail. He's already told me that if he can't break anything on this car, while driving it for it's intended purpose, then he's going to keep building the engine up until he does.

Thanks

Archie

The first trip in the car was crazy after having a heavy foot from a 1800 mile round trip pulling a trailer, it took all I had to keep her straight in first or second. The acceleration was off the charts, after getting a feel for the car I took it up 60 then hit the peddle....... like I said Holy s***...... The speedo only goes to 120 and it was pegged in seconds. ( note to Archie 120mph speedos and LS7's do not mix well ) The ride was smooth and the new corvette rack ratio and P/S was great. The new corvette seats will have to go they sit to high and don't go as far back as the fiero seats. More this Spring
