We came up with what I think wll be the ideal location for the Dry Sump tank & P.S. resovoir. I'll be discussing that with Troy tomorrow.

We did some preliminary work on the spot brakes, now we can make the mounting brackets for them while Mark is finishing painting on the car.

Then we got some wheels mounted on it so we could put it on the rack & start fitting the exhaust parts.

The Pypes mufflers came in today & I gotta tell you that there's one big 3" hole right thru the middle of them.

So today we installed the gas tank, water pipes & heater box. They also made the 1/4 panel vent grills. Rob started installing the A/C tubes that run the length of the car however one of them was badly corroded, so we stole one off of one of my Fiero of dream cars. Then cleaned them all up & now we need to get some new insulation for them before we put them in.

They also polished the 2 pipes coming out of the heater box, Rob also is in the process of polishing the rest of the A/C componets that go under the front hood.

I had to take my wife into Rush for her monthly treatment today so I didn't get any in process pics. Here are a few pics I took this afternoon.

A bit of an update.

The last couple of days we've been working on the underside of the car.

We put the A/C lines, Heater pipes, battery cables & P.S. lines along either side of the newly painted gas tank.

Then we put the car on the floor to slightly modify the rear clip to make it easier to remove.







Also put a new double wall floor in the trunk area.





With the engine out of the car, we're working on the McChuck project.



We're also moving & lowering the location where the wire harness passes thru the bulkhead, so the wires will be out of the way as much as we can have them.



To make clearance for the lines running to the P.S. pump, we had to make a slight bubble to the forward bulkhead.



Right now the schedule has us returning this car to Mark next Monday to finish the paint job.

Rob started building the sheet metal panels for the engine compartment today.

There is a small "U" channel down at the bottom to hold the panel & some ST Sheel metal screws at the top edge to hold it in place.



You can also see that he built a box around the hinge box on the drivers side.





Having a Sheet Metal Brake & a Plasma Cutter are really handy sometimes.

This is just the beginning on making these parts. We will still need to put some holes into them when we route the route the Shift cables, ECM wires, hoses etc. This is why we lowered the openings where the harness will pass thru the bulkhead. We will be trying to hide as much of the wires, hoses & cables behind the covers as we can. However this will not be 100% complete until final assembly when we can mount the engine for the last time & hook everything up.

When finished, these will be painted to match the rest of the engine compartment.

Then we put the engine assembly back into the car to check for fit on the shield & to start figuring out where to mount the Electric W/P, P.S. tank, CAI, Oil Tank & several other things. Later panels will be built to the other exposed side panels.



The P.S. pump comes close to the bulkhead, so the shield will have to work it's way around that area.



The CAI, Oil Tank, Shift Cables & any number of wires have to occupy this corner.





We also worked on midifying the dash today to allow mounting of those nice Cup Holders.

Kris came up with a good way to mount them. Then modified the bottom edge of the dash & fiberglassed it all from the inside.
Here he's filling & sanding the new face of the dash.

It just barely fits in there. If the tank was a half inch larger in diameter, it wouldn't fit. Between the frame rail, transmission case & the forward bulkhead, you couldn't move the tank a quarter inch in any direction without hitting something.
