LS7 Fiero swap

with regards to the transmission i think the comment about granading it is an ok one to make... the fiero transaxles arent exactlt known to be bylletproof... ive seen some v8 fieros running acura NSX transmissions for this very reason.. and building a car of this caliber.. with brakes and chassis to go with an engine like an ls7... i think it would be a shame to go thru transmissions at the same rate as the rear tires..
just my 2 cents

Shaun don't worry about me I'll be ok, I've invested well and I'm willing to pay the price to think out of the box. Can you post the specs and pics of your car, after all you are the master, right??

I applaud Mrtroyboy for going "all out" on an LS7 swap. It will be an insane fiero, that's for sure. Most people aren't crazy(?) enough to drop $20k into a $2k car. Good luck with your project.
I agree with the transmission comments though, there aren't many options that will live up to a LS7. The F40 transmission you're using from a Pontiac G6 isn't proven. The "40" comes from the maximum gearbox torque - 400N-m or ~300ftlb. It's not going to last long behind 500lb-ft. Plus, with a 3.55 final and 3.77 first (depending on model), it's going to be a pretty worthless first gear, so you have a 3 speed with 2 overdrive gears.
I've been into fieros for a few years now. Lurked here for a while too. I think this is one of my first posts. I've seen Archie's work first hand and driven one of his swaps. I will say this: I would have chosen someone else for an LS7 swap. If I'm spending $10k on an engine, I want to be damn sure it's installed right. Nothing personal with Archie (I don't know the guy), but I have seen his crimp bent exhaust, the underperforming fiero videos, and generally poor engineering decisions when it comes to engine swaps (mounts, etc) But good luck to you both! Please post a 1/4 mile video when you get it together!

How is using off the shelf GM parts to build a trailorqueen "out of the box" thinking?

That guy spent $17k with cletus, and was unsatisfied with cletus. $17k dude!! With him being unsatisfied and cletus not being able to do what he wanted, do y ou think he made a wise investment too? If this smiley was over on poopland, he would probably be posting it left and right about cletus.

You are right, he did the bodywork, not the motor, and from what he says, he isn't happy at all with how cletus treated him after spending $17k dollars with him. Not only that but the customer had green coolant in his overflow tank, when there was dexcool in the car when he took it to cletus' shop. Gee now how did that happen?
He did however work on the motors in the otehr videos I posted, and you see what those 2 outcomes were right? Like I said he doesnt' know what he is doing.

Shaun let is go for goodness sakes
Shaun, why don't you call 1-800-get a life for goodness sakes.
If the V8 Fiero is not your thing, why do you constantly have to rain all over someone else's parade?
Troyboy's car is exactly what he wants it to be, why do you care what engine he has chosen.
Troy, very nice car I wouldn't even bother defending it to the trolls.
