I want to see this beast run down the quarter!
Envy sir, pure envy!
You have made one hell of a complete package! Great job Joe! Far superior to the normal swap.

Haha thanks Tony.. I just want/built it to be an all-round good car. It will hit the dragstrip once to see what it can do, but I'm not in any big rush for that quite yet...

Sick wit it. I'm considering going with 255 rubber up front, since my new wheels are 9" front 11" rear and I can machine the spacer as required. They came with 205 and 275 rubber, which are as funny looking as one would expect (especially the front). I'm thinking of going IRS and setting the camber to -20° so I could fit in with the hellaflush croud.

Can't wait to see the result. If I had an extra subframe (hint hint Tom), I'd go the 'notched front subframe' route and run 275s.

Rims widened and tires mounted.. this put a gigantic ****-eating grin on my face when I first saw..

Sidewall is perfect with a slight bit of stretch. Will also look good if I decide to go to 315's at some point..

What does a ****-eating grin look like and how did it get that name?

Nice! What BS? I just checked my rears (7" BS/25mm offset), and they're a touch outboard for 305 or 315s.

Clint, I can direct you to a site or two with girls and cups and such so you can get an idea of a ****-eating grin if need be.

Haha I have no idea where the expression came from. What I was going for is.. every time I look at the tire it makes me giggly because it's just so ridiculous..

Thats going to be so awesome under the Nova!! Looks great Joe!
How did the rims turn out? Did you widen them yourself? Hows the mini-tubs coming along? So many questions, sorry.

Looks like your camera is hurtin' ! How much did it end up costing for the wheel widening? How close was the balance after that? Who did it?

Thanks Tony.. looking forward to having more tire on the ground. I like the look of these rims, so widening them just made sense. When I first started searching for decent-looking rims (5 or 6 years ago), it was difficult to find this spoke design but I finally found these and am still happy with them. If I were to not widen and just get new wheels, yes there are a lot more companies that make this euro-style rim for musclecars now, but they're all nearing or exceeding 1000 a corner.. I'm not about to spend that.

A local place called Green's Automotive did it, friend recommended them with good stories, I'll say the end product turned out well. Nice, tight weld beads, minimal balance weights, they even cleaned all the brake dust off! Ended up being $200 per corner, which sounds expensive but even if that's at a [cheap] $60/hr rate, that's 3 hours of work labor per rim.. seems acceptable enough.

Mark.. that's my phone camera, so I'm ok with it sucking. Hell I use my camera to open beer bottles when I'm in a pinch so to say I don't care about it would be an understatement haha.

Not a bad price at all considering the labor or the replacement costs.
Speaking of brake dust, I went with ceramic pads. I am hoping they will throw off a minimal amount of dust. Theses new wheels look like pain in the *** to clean!
I was looking around on racingjunk.com and found a fabbed subframe for the first gen Camaro using late model Mustang front strut setup. After reading the negatives on the short/long arm front suspension we have, it just makes me wonder why more people do not fab a similar setup.

So I calculated your new BS to be roughly 8 7/8", which should work out well with your spacers.

I wish I could tell you Ceramics were dustless... Joe can attest to my filthy front wheels... I run Carbotech XP16's They work great, but are crazy dirty...and I run them for time attack on a road course.

I made a finger mark in the brake dust on his front rims.. he almost tore me a new one.

My Hawk HP+ pads are crazy dusty too.. but damn they grip well, even at low temp on the street.

I am under the impression that any track-oriented pad is going to dust, even so called "ceramic" pads. I was thinking Hawk HPS pads for mine.

Some decent pad tech in these articles:

Not much new to report here, garage concrete floor and tools have been cold and that puts a damper on the excitement of going out there. But I did get a new addition to the garage.. cleaning out the shop at work one of the guys gave me his old stereo setup..

Went from this..

To this..

Amazing how it only takes a little change/inspiration to get back at making stuff..

Have left hibernation and back to having the fabrication bug.. recently when I've been trying to fall asleep all I can think about are rowing thru the gears and hearing the turbo spool, so I think next weekend I'll buckle down and get thru the mini-tub.

I see "Too many projects" danger lurking here. Whats with the floor jack holding up the exhaust pipe on the bike ?
