Exclamation Sub Frame Conectors

Anyone have a preference for sub frame conectors, I really want 3 point conectors, probably will have to have some made since I can't find any commercially made.
From what I can find I will also have to figure out what size bolts I will have to get to replace the stock ones.

i understand your preference, but just for the sake of other vert owners who are currently undecided regarding bolting in vs. welding in their subframe connectors, consider the following pictures of subframe connectors currently available for 4th gen convertibles....
(if you have the 3-points made, of course, that would be the best option!)

umi performance (reputable sponsor of ls1tech) bolt-in

umi's weld-in subframe connectors

bmr fabrication (another reputable sponsor of ls1tech) weld-in subframe connectors

you gotta consider how much these cars flex. to get a better idea, go ride around in a fixed or t-top car (with subframe connectors if you can find one). the more points that these bars are connected to, the better they will work. if you search around the suspension section, you'll read about stories where the sfcs move around when they're bolted on and don't quite do their job well and even where the manufacturer steps in and acknowledges this, then recommends that the bolt-in units are welded later for better support.

i went with bmr's weld-in in hammertone black. these photos show them while they were being welded on. you'll see the front driver's side was not yet completed. after these photos were taken, i took some paint to the underside and it looks/performs great.

but if you can get the "kenny diamond" style subframe connectors that connect in the middle.. that would be awesome.
if you can get someone to make these, you'd have some customers on this board for sure (myself included)

if you want to help flexing you can also get a rollcage. I vote for BMR weld ins

I used UMI weld ins just as pictured.

I bought the optional bolt kit so I could try before
I took the plunge and welded them in. I could
not get the bolts tight enough to keep from
rattleing. Instantly drove me nuts (not very
hard thing to do). Within 20 miles out came the torch.

They made a heck of a difference. Stopped
most of the flexing. Best single upgrade you
could make on a vert.

My $.02, go with the weld ins.

Found these and I am going to order, if I have any problems they can be welded in.

To me those just don't look impressive at all. I'd spend the extra money and get a name brand set that is proven. I have Don Gotez custom bolt in SFC's and love em. Never had any problems with squeeking or rattles after the install. Good luck man.

I have kenne brown double diamond on my 99 ta t top car and had them on my 97 ta t top car. I am very happy with them and was going to go with them on my 96z vert but kenny brown shut down operations due to illness.
I went with weld in Bmrs. I didnt notice hardly any difference with the bmr weld ins.
I may still cut them off at some point and put on a more triangulated type of subframe connector.

I have a 6-pt cage welded in...is there any advantage to welding in SFCs as well?

+1 for the Don Goetz bolt in's. Installed several years ago, no squeaking, and the bolts have not loosened up at all.

Double diamonds are a verts best freind!!!!!!!!
Now why can't bmr, umi or whoever figure this out?
God knows they'd make a killing. You had one guy in here who said he'd
cut his bmr's out for a set.
If you build'em we'll buy'em!!!!!!!

I am going to get the UMI weld-in ones, and get the bolt on parts ($10 option) so I can bolt them in on day one, and get them welded later -- having both should be stronger... Bolting on the weld-in UMIs is better, because they come with extra weld points for when you finally get the welding done.

Are you talking about Richmond, or what do you mean by double diamonds? Have a link to these parts?
