Is anyone else tired of weight-lifting the trunk lid?
I thought there was a problem with my '96 - the trunk was heavy as hell even after I replaced the gas struts. Geez, the 2000 is the same friggin thing. There is absolutely no assist at all lifting the trunk. What were the designers thinking?
Of course it's not the biggest problem in the world - but I find it odd. My wife is 5 feet tall and 100lbs - I doubt she could open the thing without a fight. (Guess that is where I should keep my "secret" stuff )
Has anyone done anything to improve this?

wish i could help... but i put a 1 peice spoiler on mine, and it is only worse... only good advice it to always lift up the deck lid from the center, or eventually the upper corners could crack from stress... I gotta find time to fix a previous owners lack of concern

Agree. That sucker doesn't budge until you start lifting. Even then there is no assist from the struts.

I don't remember having any problem opening my trunk. To be sure,I went out to the garage and checked. I can open mine with two fingers.
Sounds like you guys should either lubricate the hinges or replace the struts.

im no weightlifter i only weigh abour 140ish and i bench about 185. and i to find this to be the hardest trunk to ever open. i do like some other son here i slip my fingers inbetween the trunk lip and the gap that is somewhat created on the frame itself
