Default 60fts on Drag Radials C5's, other suspension mods?

Debating between ET streets and Nitto 555R drag radial. wondering what kind of 60fts people are getting on DR's? just curious. I know I may have problems with DR's but not sure if I want ET streets. Anyone ran the 305-35-18 555R? any luck? may buy nittos for everyday and ET streets for track later this season

I'd go with Et streets. They actually seem to be easier on the driveline than drag radials from what most folks are saying. I have cut a 1.42 60' on ET Streets.

J-Rod is a rather exceptional driver, as far as DR's vs ET's it comes down to personal preference, driving on the street on the way to the track etc. First I heard the ET's were easier on the drivetrain. On 18" BFG's I managed a number of 1.6X 60' times last time out.

Several folks have broken driveline parts with D/R. When switching to ET Streets they have had fewer breakage problems...

J-Rod, I don't doubt you at all, but wonder why that is. I intentionally went with the DR's to minimize risk of drivetrain breakage, and still hurt the ring and pinion on the Z at the Tuner Shootout. Luckily it was repaired under warranty, and I even got them to install the hardened output shaft that I provided. I never cut better than a 1.62 60', and was dumping the clutch at "only" 3800 RPM's, so how does a stickier tire make this better?

I figure you have a theory, so fess up my friend.

I have spoken with several folks who have broken driveline parts. Everyone was on radials. They seem to chatter more than ET Streets, and they don't have any "give" in them like a wrinklewall (like the ET Street). I know folks who have hurt driveline parts, and switch to Et Streets with no further issues. From what I have seen and heard, it look like the ET Streets, while hooking better may be easier on driveline parts.

I haven't really had much of a problem with wheel hop last year with 1.9 60fts on kumho mx. but I need tire for street, so I think I'm going to order 305 nitto's. try them?. But I'm going to get the ET streets later this summer. I have had great luck with Nitto's. 1.6-1.5 60fts. 18psi, big burnouts. I also have the QA1's installed and those made a huge difference even on the street.

I have zero (perceived) wheelhop, fixed that some time ago. Maybe I hurt the ring and pinion some time ago (when I had massive wheelhop) and making the hard runs at the shootout took it over the edge. Now that I have the hardened output shaft I plan to give ET Streets a try, and believe I can make a 11.0 as the car sits, maybe high 10's.

Thanks J-Rod, always appreciate your views - take care.

...the BFG 18inch DR hook pretty good and can be driven on the street, however don't expect great mileage and don't drive in rain....but if you consistently want/need under a 1.7 60ft then ET Streets is the answer.

On the C5 It was a combination of lowering the car, alignment and poly u bushings. I had pretty bad wheel hop on my T/A as well, a pan hard rod and LCA's took care of it on that car - managed 1.5X 60' times on ET Drags.
