Default New best ET for the Patman!

I've been waiting a long time to finally run 12s in my C5, and today was the day! The weather conditions were amazing! 38F, 53% humidity, 30.5" barometer, it worked out to a negative 1280ft DA! (actual track altitude is 600ft)

My previous best was 13.15 at 108 and I blew it away today with a 12.81 at 109.4!! The only mods on my C5 are a Vararam and a dyno tune! I backed up the 12.81 with a 12.82, a 12.86 and a 12.91. I was hotlapping the car, and it ran the best on the second pass (first pass was the 12.91) I also made one run with the car cooled off a lot (oil down on the track, so we sat for a long while) and it only ran 13.01 with a 160F coolant temp. These cars definitely like to hotlap (my 12.81 was run with a 194 coolant temp)

I just wish I had not gained 20lbs in the last year (now I'm close to 180) otherwise that 12.81 would've been a 12.79.

-1280 DA. HOLY COW!! I'd kill for a slice of that air. Congrats on a new best. Quite impressive for a virtually stock car. What kind of 60' times were you getting?

I was getting consistent 1.98 60fts yesterday. I'm running Pirelli P Zero Nero all season tires on it now. When I had the stock runflats my best 60ft was 1.94.

Thanks guys! It's hard to believe, but before this weekend the last time I ran 12s with any vehicle was the 12.68 pass I made in my 98 Formula way back in October 1999! So it's been a hell of a long time coming!

Congrats, Patman. It takes skill and more importantly, patience to get to the 12s without big mods. Most C5 drivers have neither .

Keep up the good work!

I've always been a big believer in trying to run as quick as you can with less mods, before you move onto spending a lot of money.

That's the philosophy I had with my 98 Formula as well. It ran 12.68 at 110.6 with just 4.10s, drag radials, a ported MAF, MTI airbox, cutout and some of the free mods. And that was on a 65 degree day as well, if I had been able to run that car on a real cold day like I had last weekend, it would've gone 12.4s.
