Help me decide on my next vette...
I am having some trouble over decidind what I want to buy.
The 2 vettes I am looking at are a 2004 Z06, and an 05/06 C6 coupe.
I have always wanted a Z06, but the looks of the C6's are amazing. Plus I like the targa tops, (which I can't get out of a Z06)
I am also a big fan of the 6.0 Ls2. I can get the cars for roughly the same price. If the C6, Z06 was in my price range, I would buy that, but unfortunately, it is not
SO my question to you is, what one to buy? Please give me some points on WHY you would choose that model.
Thanks again for the help

Well it depends on what you want
Answer these questions and we can help you a little more:
Will the car be a DD or weekend toy?
Will you be racing the car? Drag? Track Days?
Do you like more creature comforts or a street legal race car.
The Z06 is a faster car...hands down
Faster down the drag strip and around the race track...it's been proven over and over again...I personally like the looks of the Z06 better than the C6 so that was def a selling point for me. You can find a really really nice C5 Z06 for low low 30's
I paid $31.5 for my 2003 1 owner Z06 w/ 7k miles and GMPP warranty till Dec '09
I would also suggest you checking out corvetteforum.com for many many many other comparison between the C5 Z06 and C6.
Whatever you decide you will be happy!!!

I went through the same process before I bought my C6. I drove a couple of C5 Z06s, and when I drove the C6, it was a whole different experience. Hard to explain really, the C5 Z06 felt like more of a "racy" car, while the C6 seemed more like a street car with excellent handling and awesome power. Once I drove the C6, I was hooked.
Good luck whichever you decide, Shawn

good points,
As with my deceased SS, RIP it started out as a DD, and it was slowly being converted to track *****/weekend toy. I want the same thing with my vette. Gas mileage is not really a concern of mine (with a vette) I want something that me and the fiance can go for a ride in and have fun, but I still want something that I can unwind with.... you know dump the clutch and go sideways after a tough week at work.
Another key factor is the work. I like to do all my own work. Again, it helps me take my mind of work (I deal with much stress at work, and believe it or not, laying on my back, cursing up a storm while wrenching is relaxation for me) WOrking on an Fbody was a piece of cake. I hear the vettes are a bit tougher. Is the C5 or the C6 harder to work on, or vica versa? As with all my other cars and motorcycles, they don't stay stock for too long.

From what you described from your first post, you will be happier with a C6.
In my opinion C6 Z06>C5 Z06>C6 Z51
Nothing like a C5 Z06. Test drive them both. There will be a noticeable differance. I love the race car feel of the Z06.

I Agree with the above, if you want refinement and the dated interior of the C5z just doesnt do it for you, then your choice is obvious.
I just didnt feel as bad doing the mods to my C5z as I would have to a C6
Regardless, you will end up with a great car!

Decisions, decisions, decisions! Aw, the question runs very deep doesn't it...a C5Z06 Vs the C6...I'm in the same situation as you, I like both. I've driven both. Looks of the C6 verses the feel of the C5Z. I've been debating for months now, and still can't decide. I thought I was dead set on on C6, but then I saw a compilation video of C5Z06's and was back in the same boat again. All I can say, is good luck on the decision. But, as nmp27 said, "Regardless, you will end up with a great car!"

REGULAR C6 BETTER DAILY DRIVER. C5 Z06 BETTER HANDLING RACE CAR
C6 Z51 ABOUT THE SAME HANDLING AS C5 Z06 AND GOOD DAILY DRIVER
AND YOU GET THAT 5 YEAR WARRANTY!!!! THATS HUGE FOR A GM CAR...YOU WILL USE IT !!!

pic the car you like the appearance of better, since performance differences can be erased with mods
i considered a c6 also. i was about 50/50 on appearance between the two. but i've wanted an eb z06 since 02 so when i got the chance to buy one, the choice was easy.
