What do you dislike about the C5 thread

They are ticket bait and race bait.
Cops notice and watch.
So do jack ***** who own slow cars, but think they are fast.
There is some stigma that comes with it. You may hear one or all of the following: your loaded, having a midlife crisis if 50, your parents bought it if 25, a jerk, or overcompensating.
All that having been said. They are absolutely worth it. The C5s are performance bargains that are highly capable in almost all areas.

cons:
vette tax
install cost
limited range of parts
pros:
handling
doesnt rattle and creak like my ws6
suspension and adjustability
much lighter weight
i dont mind the 2 seats at all. my friend had a gto and i had my ws6 and the back seats got used for detailing products and microfiber towels on both of our vehicles. i'm 6'5" and the backseats are inusable for anyone more than a midget. and even if you got back there, it would suck for more than a 10min drive.

Cons:
Higher cost for performance parts
Cheap plastic interior
Crappy stock shifter...upgrade to a C6 Z06 shifter and you're set though
Pros:
Weight
Transmission ratios...I love the MN12 so much better than the MN6
Power
Handling
Braking
Aerodynamics
Sexy body lines
Of course some of these are more for the Z06 side but these apply to pretty much all C5s

Alot of ignorent comments here:
i just hate how when you see a Vette you automatically think:
old
viagra
automatic.
If that is what you automatically think when you see vette, then more power to you. I'm old, I don't take Viagra, and no it's not an automatic.
And if you got to ask these kinds of questions, then maybe the car is not for you.

Pretty ironic that you use "ignorent" to describe an "ignorant" post
I think all they're trying to say is that some people really do think "old guy" or "midlife crisis" when they see a vette. The truth is that the average age of the owner is higher simply because these are NOT cheap cars to buy. Just a product of people being able to afford them the older they are. I wouldn't assume viagra or auto but it seems there are quite a few auto vettes out there.

The only thing I don't like about the C5 is the pop-up head lights and the stance. It NEEDS to be lowered.
For the C6 the stock exhaust is way way to quiet and the stance sucks. It also needs lowered.
And I hate it when hot woman ask for rides.

the VETTE TAX is the worst!!!!
Not sure about you guys but the corvette symbolizes america. It has since day one and always will. Yea f-bodies are great, too bad GM canned them for low sales. Then again GM is a bunch of morons.
Corvettes are not gay, no car is gay, well except the honda element lol. It is all in who owns the cars. There are ****** that own every kind of car and yes even vettes and f-bodies. They are what make themselves gay not the cars.

The Corvette is an awesome car to drive. Even better when you make it a daily driver for your 100 mile commute. I'll admit you have to be a little hard core car enthusiast to drive one every day, but that isn't a bad thing is it? I haven't noticed the Corvette tax so much. I buy parts used when I can, and I do my own work. It's a little harder to access things in the engine compartment than my '69 Nova, but it is a lot more enjoyable to drive. I would be curious to know how many of the Corvette bashers have actually spent more than a few minutes in one, much less driven one. Oh well, enjoy your opinions. In a couple of hours I will jump in and drive it another 50 miles home.

i drive mine during the summer only BUT that's because i don't want it to get wrecked in the winter crap in MN. But in the summer time i drive, drive, drive it
lol i've heard just about ALL the stereotypes except the being old part. If they ask if i'm compensating for something i tell them to ask my g/f if i have to
that usually shuts them up. The asking if it's dads, i just tell them to pull up the registration, and insurance cards and see who pays for it. I work HARD for my car and bought it because i've always wanted one and enjoy driving and modifying cars. i do all the work myself(modding and detailing) and take close care of my stuff. I just realise that most are just jealous is all. Oh well, at the end of the day i still get to drive it home.~Cole~

I love my C5 aside from the fact it's a 98 so no HUD
![Sad](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_sad.gif)
It's comfortable and gets a ton of looks/compliments. It's just as fast as my old Z was with way less mods(well close enough). OMG it's automatic though!! I must be gay or something

The Corvette tax blows though.
