Ran the barn build at Byron yesterday
Some of you may have seen my most recent project in the build thread.
99 Camaro V6 swapped to an LS1 out of a wrecked 99 Trans Am. Got it running on Friday, finished buttoning up everything else on Saturday morning. Didn't get out to Byron until 230p. Current mod list reads like this
LS6 Intake
Unknown (possibly OBX) Headers - open
Fast Toys 85mm Lid
Speed Inc Filter
Unknown type/stall Yank Converter - Was told it was 3400
3.42 Gear that came with the V6
Chrs1313 Ram Air
Slight weight reduction (took out about 200ish pounds)
I was quite nervous about making the first pass. This has been a rushed build, done literally in a barn during late nights. I can't even begin to thank the people who have helped!
First pass
-.011 R/T Damned close to chopping the tree down!
1.773 60' Whoa! On brand new 255/50/16 ET Street Radials
5.131 330'
7.903 1/8th
88.02 MPH
10.318 1000'
12.345 1/4
111.26 MPH
Needless to say I was STUNNED. I didn't think it would be that quick the first pass. Backed it up the 2nd pass with a 12.36, then spun hard on the 3rd pass on my way to a 13.27.
I still have several issues to iron out. I don't have any gauges. When I turn the key to the "Run" position, I don't get anything lighting up on the gauge cluster other than the seat belt light. No SES, Airbag, Nada. When I plugged in HP Tuners, I don't get any data other than it is a 2002 LS1 PCM. I can see DTC's, but when I tried the gauge function, I had nothing on the display. I also have a DTC for the Cam Position Sensor. About 1 time out of 5, I'm having a difficult time starting. I'm hoping at the moment that I have a bad BCM, and need a Case Learn for the Cam Position Sensor to clear up. Any thoughts?

having that ram air on there helps a ton...try taping it off real good one time at the track and let it breathe from the front stock 1" slit...and i bet you see at least 2mph decrease or close to it...
first vid sounds like you tapped the limiter too, cars runs pretty good for a barn build let me know if you got any questions and i will try to lead you in the right direction from what i have learned works and doesnt...

I appreciate the offer. Still have some bugs. It's banging the limiter hard on the 2-3 shift since the PCM is tuned for 3.23's and I have 3.42's in it. I'm having a problem communicating with the PCM, but should have it sorted out this week. This is just a completely untuned baseline. I also need to seal the airbox. It's not even close to being completely sealed yet.

Yeah, I'm hoping to eek an 11.99 out of it for now. Also need to work on the launch. 1.77 is pretty pathetic, but it's difficult to gauge when you don't have a working tach.

Just an update. Tuned out the rev limiter issue. Dropping the command MPH seemed to take care of it. I'm still learning with HP Tuners. New best was a 12.24@111.02 on a 1.73 60'. Still have completely stock suspension minus the LCA's, and it's pulling the driver's side tire a few inches for a good 20'-30'.
Last trip was VERY uneventful. Backed it off the trailer and noticed brake fluid, and fuel leaking. Someone didn't tighten up the brake lines at the ABS distribution block, and put the Walbro pump in the V6 bucket. V6's have a return style fuel system, and fuel is coming to the front from the return. I'm going to put the new pump in the V8 bucket, and hopefully fix that issue. Brakes are all tightened up, still weaker than I would like. Found the break in the Cam Position sensor harness, need to stitch that up. Also, found that my Fast Toys Lid was never cast right from the beginning. There is a gap on the throat leading to the MAF. Glad I wasted $160 on that!

I don't intend on driving it on the street. However, I did order a true dual kit. Shame they only shipped me 1/2 the kit, so I've been waiting on that. Weirdly enough, it's quieter than my 02 WS6 was with LT's, ORY, and a Cut out.
