Big gear change !!!
Hey guys, I just took my car to the track 2 weekends ago and I noticed a noise from the rear. Had the cover pulled and found a broken tooth on the ring gear. That gear was a 3.73 that had been in that 12 bolt since 2003 so it has done well. Since I am only doing 1/8th mile racing I replaced it with a 4.56 and also had a BMR drag bar installed. My best time with 3.73 was 1.40 60ft and 6.59 @ 104mph. I was just wanting opinions. The car didnt quite leave straight before either I hope this helps.

I can't give any advice on the gear change but I can say that you will see a major difference from the drag bar. My car runs 6.80's@100 and it use to leave with one wheel in the air while the other was planted on the ground. I switched to a TRZ bar and it tamed the car down a lot and now both wheels pull off the ground evenly. I hear a lot of people bash 12 Bolts but I've had a 12-Bolt since 2004 and still have the original 4.10's. Keep us updated on the results, I do a lot of 1/8 mile and I've contemplated going to 4.30's or 4.56's.

What was the weathe differnce between your previous best and the new times? With the better 60' & E.T, but lower mph I would say the weather was not as good. The best way to compare the 2 runs is to correct them to 0 DA and see the difference.

You are right, it was upper 60's yesterday and I ran a new best of 1.37 60ft, 6.55 @ 103.95mph. But when I ran my best with the 3.73 it was in the upper 40's at memphis and prepped well and was on a drag radial. I now run 28x10.5 slicks. I raced the car all three days and it stayed very consistent all weekend.

Bet if you had your converter reworked by PTC to match the gear change you would see more improvement. Good times though.

I agree 100%, if it was about 500rpm tighter I think it would pull harder up top. It crosses the traps at like 6500 or so . I am gonna call tim today and talk to him.
