Default John Force in serious race accident....

In the lounge, but thought some would read here too: www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=787635
NHRA info: www.nhra.com/content/news.asp?articleid=24436&zoneid=7

I pray he recovers, this could be bad at his age.

That was a scary looking wreck but John loves dragracing and I`m sure he`ll be back next year. It seems now that his injuries are not as bad as first thought.

Update: 6:20 p.m. Sunday: Doctors updated John Force's family and team following a thorough evaluation of his multiple injuries and the prognosis for a full recovery is very good.

Force sustained a broken left ankle and severe abrasion on his right knee. Force's left wrist also was dislocated and broken and he sustained some severe abrasions and slight fractures on a number of fingers on his right hand.

Throughout all procedures Force was alert and responsive. CAT scans performed came back negative and showed no damage other than the injuries to his legs and hands. Surgeons will begin cleaning a number of his injuries tonight and possibly setting his fractures if the swelling is at an acceptable level.

from watching the video over and over,it apears that when kenny B. took out the cones at the top end they hit johns car, maybe the reflector on the cone was enough to damage the body causing the tire to go down,Hoping John has a full recovery, from all those injuries.

This time it was not caused by Goodyear tires, I do think Darryl Russell and Eric Medlen`s deaths were the result of Goodyear.

P. S. you still coming for World Street Nats?

I also think that it was debris from the timers that caused the wreck. looked aweful. good luck to them. had two wrecks this season, his and ashley's......................

Did you guys notice before the wreck they were showing a few cars that were chunking the hell out of the tires?

I am still not sure it was the cones. In some angles it does not look like they even got close but we will have to wait. The way it came apart is un-nerving that is for sure

I watched the video about 30 times and I doubt that timers or cone caused the crash.Right after he crossed the finish line it looks like the right rear tire blew and he veered right into Bernstein.

The right rear side body of the car was dragging on the ground just before he went right.

Thanks for the update Dave, good to know it's not as bad as originally thought.

I watched the coverage on ESPN last night, scary as hell watching John's legs flopping in the air when the chassis broke apart.

As mentioned above, definately been a rough year for the Force camp.

Looks like the surgery went well last night........

Monday, 1:30 a.m. Central: Good news from Baylor University Medical Center where doctors operating on 14-time NHRA Funny Car champ John Force were able to set his broken left ankle and determined that his wrist was not broken but just severely dislocated.

According to teamspokesman Elon Werner, doctors inserted three pins into Force's ankle to set it, and also inserted three temporary pins to stabilize his wrist.

Force came through the surgery well. A full update will be issued by the team midday Monday.

300+ mph crash, he is lucky, I think he will race again. When they pulled him from the car he wanted to know if Kenny was OK, and asked if he won, he wanted an interview!! Get well soon John.
