ok a ? for everyone.
I had a problem with my slicks (MT ET STREET 28x11.5x16 which is 8.7 tread width), when they would actually try to hook up instead of spinning...lol! They would wrinkle the sidewall so bad that the wheel would smack the ground, well smack the balled up tire. Thats the main reason i am wanting to go to a 15" rim! i got some hoosier slicks from a buddy last night and well he had the for over 5 years in a shop and only have 1 pass on them, but now they are dryrotted and im not going to use them, so i am looking at the Hoosier QTP 28x11.5x15 which is 10" tread width. My old slicks i couldnt run over 12.5 psi because it would just roast them and 12.5 psi when it would hook would do what i said above "wrinkle"!
Would the Hoosiers be better for my app or do i need to look at something else???

sounds like you need some suspension work. if a slick was wrinkling to the point were the rim would about smack the ground then you dont have enough air in them. the heavier the car (or truck) the more air you would need in the slicks. 12.5 psi just isnt enough for a heavier vehicle.

That is the stiff sidewall 28 inch tire, it will support the weight better and the sidewalls are a good bit stiffer then regular slicks.
This is the tire that alot of heavier cars use.

If the suspension isn't right the slick will make up for it whereas a radial will not.
Stock truck suspension (not sure what has been done to it) is defonately not best suited to drag racing, so the liklyhood of the radial working is a good bit less then a slick IMO.
But, ya never know if you don't try. If someone has a set that you could bolt on for a pass I'd absolutely try it.

there isnt really anthing you can do with stock type suspension. i could go 4 link but then i would loose alot of drivability. I have the stock leaf springs with the overload removed and caltracs. stock type shocks front and rear "i need adjustable stock style" front coils are lowering coils thats stiffer than a rock, which i think im going to try and find some V6 coil springs and cut accordingly for height.
There isnt really much avaliable for the truck market performance suspension wise!!!

ok got my 15x10's in, but i think i may have created a lil more problem!!!
I done some trading and now have a set of 4.56's sitting here in a box that i want to use. So now im looking at sizes for them. I have talked to other truck guys and most of the faster ones are having great luck with the Hoosier full race slick, so im thinking of going with a 29x10x15 Hoosier. Im going to call Hoosier tomorrow and see what they say

I think a 29x10.5S et drag with the stiff sidewall would work great with the 4.56 gearing.
Those tires are a really good tire, and work great on heavier cars, plus with the traction you will have vs the power, you probably could run about 15 lbs of air in them maybe more and not have any traction issues.

That .6 of an inch isn't gonna kill you. You put the 4.56 gear in and it will love the 29.5s ET drag trust me.
The tire that shiz is suggesting isn't bad either, but those will beless forgiving for less than perfect track and suspension. Shiz, remember this is a truck with little to no suspension mods and there's nothing really to adjust like we have with the cars, the tire has to do the work.
