Default Midwest Chassis Cage! Pictures Inside

So, i know many of you have seen eric @ Midwest Chassis's rear ends, and most of the site loves them. I bought my rear end from eric last year, and after dealing with him, when it was time to do a cage, i figured who better to do it then him.

So me and eric talked a little, and to meet my goal, we decided on a 8 pt roll cage, with a dash bar, and window net provisions.

All i can say is i am super happy with how it all turned out. The fitment is so tight to the car, and the welds, and bends all look amazing. He truly did a great job on my car. Thanks eric! Ps, kirkey is not mounted yet....

Eric is also doing some other work on my car, and when that is all done, i will post up those pictures.
For a bunch more pictures of the cage go to.

BTW, that is one of the nicest 8-point installs I have seen. More pictures when finished or BAN !

Looks really good, have you put any street miles on it yet? Thouse doorbars don't look that easy to live with. You going ot a detachable wheel?

The car isnt done yet, these are progress pics from today. The door bars arent that bad, door bars are always a pain though (unless they are swingout). He has a wheel and quick relese hub waiting at home for it when it gets back.

Looks good to me. I like the way the cage was tied to the dash, that's a good idea and I wish more fab guys would do that.

Door bars look good too, only thing I don't like is that the door bars and the rear cross bar aren't on the same plane. It's always been my understanding that you want to have the cross bar and door bars on the same plane for added strength. Not required by nhra but it's a good idea. I like bars going to the tunnel the way they do too, makes the tunnel sronger if you ever wanted to notch the rear portion out and enlarge it for mroe clearance for the rear.

He is going to cover the driverside notch that he cut in the dash with a piece of metal. he is also going to do a dash bar, and provisions for a window net..

as far as the door bars and cross bars being on the same plane i understand what your saying. Im sure eric has a reason for doing it the way he does, i just dont know what it is. I just told him i wanted it to pass tech, and get certed to 8.50's. He tells me no problem.

Thanks Chris

It will pass tech like that no problem. I just know that triangles, the bigger and more plentiful the better. It will be fine like that for sure.

I do like the door bars and how they are bent, they're better looking then mine for sure.

No problem. I wish we had more good fab guys in this corner of the country. I think I found a new one though that I will have all the future stuf done with, and Eastside has a guy working there that's really good @ fabbing stuff too, who I am gonna start utilizing as well.

Reason I ask is on one of the close up of the welds, looks like a Mig weld, and since it looked Mig, and hoping that a shop knows you can't Mig Chromoly, assumed it was MS. Welds just looked a little "big" to be Tig, that's all.

Cage looks good though
