Default McCloud RXT/RST for drag racing, 9s and faster????

Post up if you run one. How many street miles and track passes?
HP, car weight, tires, gear, and et/60' numbers.
Can you slip it on low rpms, how dose it do with 6300-7K launches? Found alot of guys that drive them on the street but don't race them much, looking for track.
thanks

I had one in my lt1 and it drove like stock, with just a little more pedal effort. Routinely hard launches @5k or above, track time, you name it. It was good enough i could slip it and hook street tires with over 600whp. Only clutch i think i would ever put in a t56 car to be honest with you, Ive driven a number of spec 3, 3+, 4, spec twin, and a monster 3. none even come close

I have an RST sitting in my garage. I honestly haven't heard anything bad about it, but I'd like to see what it could take at the track as well.

I've had the RST with a steel flywheel in my car for over a year now and it hasn't skipped a beat yet. I've slipped it, dumped it, and made many launches at 6500-7000 and it's performed flawlessly. It's great on the street as well, very nice pedal feel and I've probably 6,000 miles on it.

Its not super light stock pedal tho right? I see people say that "stock like", But I don't like the way a stock clutch feels for performance driving.

Ya, I see alot of people say they like there RST/RXT over there old clutch, (lots of diffrent) And no one say anything bad about them.

I have the tick master also. The pedal is a little heavier than stock. Have you made up your mind yet?

I have the RXT that I daily drive. I've got about 5k miles on and about 50 track passes on it. My car weighs just over 3700lbs. I consistantly cut low 1.4 60's. My best so far was a 1.401 60ft but average 1.42's - 1.45's. I was hoping to end this past season with a 9 sec pass but ended up with a 10.08 @ 136. My car has a forged h/c/i 347 on a 175 hit, 3.89's in my moser 9" with Hoosier 27x11.5 QTPs. The RXT is a wonderful clutch. My only issue with it is the engagement point is a bit high on the pedal travel.

Pedal effort is very light compared to just about any aftermarket single disc. When I first installed it, I thought something was wrong because the pedal was so light. I got use to it and grew to like it on the lighter side. I even noticed improved shift speeds. My car also has the tick master which will increase pedal effort abit over the stock master cylinder, but the pedal effort with this setup seem virtually identical to that of a stock clutch setup.

As far as launching with RXT, I use a controlled dump technique. I dont side step the clutch, I just let it out very fast. Keeping in mind my car is nitrous assisted which helps a great deal in getting my car to leave hard. I usually leave around 5500 but I do have full confidence the RXT will take a 7k + rpm launch. I hope this helps you!

thats perfect, other then it being soft soft.

great car too. 1.401 is really good, 3700 on 27' QTPs and 3;89s thats like 1500-1700 at 80mph cruising right? What made you get that over a RST, know anyone thats had one? I haven't talked to mcloud yet but should. Hows the Ceramic facings, dose it grip more with heat? Ever had any trouble with making 2 passes within 30 mins or anything like that when you get done past the simi finals, round robin. Or making "one more" TnT right before the track closes?

Hows that work with the N20 launching? You have a controller or something? Use a 2step not sure how that word work? killer setup

Thank you for your kind words! When I spoke to the guys at Mcleod, they recommended the RXT over the RST for me since my car was on the heavy side and making a fair amount of power. I havent driven a car with the RST so its hard for me evenly compare the two. I have had quite a few clutch setups in my car and this clutch reminds me of my LS7 clutch a had few years back. Engagement is not as smooth as stock but it still has amazing street manners. I would imagine the RST would be even smoother since it uses full face organic disc.

The RXT clutch seems to work better with heat. I've had zero problems hot lapping with the RXT. I've made 3 passes with in 15mins time span the clutch never missed a beat. My car didnt start pulling the wheels until I switched to the RXT.

Launching on nitrous is tricky. I've had alot of practice and good coaching from a good friend of mine. The trick is getting the n2o to turn on before you let the clutch out while not allowing your rpms to take off to high. Sounds simple but its not. I've since installed the MSD 2step that I've only got 3 passes with. I need more time with it to dial it in. With this upcoming season I'll be switching to Hoosier 28x10.5, swaping to 4.11's, removing alittle weight, and stepping up the shot.

Good luck with your car and let me know what clutch you go with. I'm interested to see how you make out.

No, it's got a firmer pedal feel than stock but it's not "break your leg" firm like say a spec.

Next time were at the track together remind me to let you take a ride in mine.... I have the RXT and I swear the clutch pedal is softer after switching from the LS7 clutch and I hate it! I don't have the Tick yet but when I get it I sure hope it helps.

I have the RTX and im still breaking it in, i have a tick master , the pedal pressure is stiffer than stock but it dont feel spungy at all and it seems to grab hard just driving around on the street, seems to release a little high, but from what i read, they all do that and they were designed like that. Once i break it in, ill be trying it out with 28 in tires and 4.56 gears, all and all, so far , i love it

I have the rst and it does release a little high i also thought something was wrong after the install because it was so light. I'm use to it now but it sure was weird, I even have a tick. Grabs hard though and i like it a lot. I haven't tested it at the track yet just street driving.
