Default Neep opinions on rear swaybar-Over or Under Axle?

My car is a 98 Formula Firebird, running a Forged 347ci LS1 with PRC 5.3 heads, 235/240 cam, Victor Jr, 4500 dominator TB...engine made 475rwhp/435rwtq in my WS6 M6 with a FAST 92 setup thorugh a 9".

Car has a 10 pt chromoly cage, will run a front mount fuel cell, Trans is a built TH350, rear is a Moser 9" for now, later will trade it out for a Midwest housing a bit narrower. Tires are 315/60/15 Hoosier drag radials. Im planning on shooting for 9.80 1/4s with a 200 shot. Ill likely build another motor down the road, possibly forced induction maybe just big cubes and n20.

I have a Burkhart rear swaybar that I havent installed yet, its a nice solid peice. I am considering switching to a Wolfe over axle swaybar.

I have already cut out the trunk pan, and ordered Wolfe mini tubs today so those will be installed soon.

Big question is, is there any advantage to an over the axle bar rather than under, besides the obvious that the stock fuel tank cant be used and welding is a must. Neither of those bother me, I can MIG just fine and the junk stock tank is long gone. Id really like to have the car setup to run a little faster to leave room for upgrades.

I appreciate any info and first hand experience

if you already have the burkhart setup just throw it on, it will work perfectly fine for what you are doing and plan on doing

If I have the choice I like over the axle. Both designs work the same but if you go over the axle it get the sway bar out of the way. The biggest downfall of the under the axle design is everyone uses it for a jack pad. I have seen them get bent that way.

Over the axle opens up options as well as to what you use... you can get a really BIG swaybar like the ones that jerry Bickel sells, etc. One of those can be mounted to a good sized bar that spans the frame rails, and you can tie that bar into the cage with a couple bars thru the floor as well... really stiffen the whole back of the car up.

I like the over axle idea. Aside from the already mentioned reasons why it would not work and those items have been attended to and exhaust will not be going that far back, your ripe to do it.
