Default QTP Hoosiers or ET Drags??

Trying to get some ideas for which tire I should be running. Trans is a stock T56 with Monster stg 3 clutch and 26lb flywheel. The dyno numbers in my sig are current and the car has only had 1 good pass so far and ran 11.79 at 124.69mph on 2.01 60 ft with bald 17" 555r's stock 10 bolt w/ 3.42s and suspension minus Bilstein HD's and strano springs.

The car will soon have a MWC fab 9" with short tq arm, 35 spline spool, DA AFCOs all around, MWC ARB, LCA's, PHB. The gear ratio is going to be 4.30s. The motor is only getting spun to 6500-6700 for longevity reasons seen as I just got it rebuilt. My race weight will be somewhere between 3350-3450 with me in it (200lbs). I am planning on a 2 step and launching where ever it decides it likes to be launched at.

I am thinking either the Hoosier Quick Time Pros 28x13.50-15LT part #17606 or the Mickey Thompson 28.0x10.5-15S part # 3055S. I have not decided on drag wheels yet either but they will most likely be 15x10 rears. I am not wanting to screw tires but I can do tubes if needed. What does everyone think? Does anyone need any more information from me?

Thanks for the help guys!

Since your a T56 get stiff wall slicks or put tubes in the QTPs.

The Hoosiers are a stickier, but will wear faster. I'd recommend the 28x11.5 though. Really need to spin that cam to 7k to take full advantage, but you should still be able to run high 10s if you can get it to launch. I've cut 1.54 un screwed on 17" ET Street, so with more sidewall I think you'll be fine. Good luck, Chris

I use part #HOO-17601 They work well. I wouldnt run tubes, just because you can rip the valve stem and that be a problem. Mine with no tubes holds air just fine. but notice they have spin on the rim a couple of inchs. Just screw the rims.

Consider the fact that something needs to slip. If the tires don’t slip then your clutch must or you will bog. Unless you enjoy replacing clutches you want your tires to spin a bit. I get good results with 26x11.5-15 ET Streets on 10-inch wheels. I think the 28x11.5-15 ET Drag is too much tire for your setup.

First don't get a 9''. robs too much power and my 12 bolt moser has take massive low 1.4 60's and 1.3 60's on the spray for YEARS. Second, the M&H Racemaster 26x11.5x15 cheeter tire is what i cut 1.42 1.44 60's on n/a. Trust when i say they out hook m/t tires on a m6 car and they make a 27'' slick too. I have tried hoosier and m/t tires. The M&H tire got me the best 60 foot from either. www.intercotire.com or jegs sells them. More people should try different tires then just say this is the best with out trying others.

Yea its a little to late for that lol. I have basically all lightweight rotating mass going into my fab 9" so I don't think I'll be too worried about robbing too much power. I am not opposed to M&H tires I just haven't looked into them much but I know they are good.

Thanks for all the info guys
