Default eaton posi and 600+ hp?

I was reading another thread about this and didn't want to hijack...

I am running a m6 with a 33 spline eaton posi...I currently have about 638 rwhp but I'm going to back it down a little bit when I hit the track to lets say 590-600 even after a jetting change to get a little more life out of the motor(stock bottom end). I run a 28' et drag...cut 1.51 on my 500 rwhp setup....still have same suspension setup (just a bmr torque arm, might buy some lca's before i hit the strip).

Who thinks I shouldn't waste time with the eaton and should just go spool? How far am I really pushing the limits?

Thanks,
Conrad

mine is still going strong ( except for the slight whining) for a year now at your current hp levels.

I have had my Moser 12 Bolt and Eaton Posi with 33 spline axles in the car for 3 years with no problems. Many hard launches big torque and it has been dead reliable mated to my T56.

I have heard different things. Warbirds car works great with the posi but I know 3 other guys who have destroyed theres...

Warbird was running on ET streets with some spin off the line so that might have had an effect on it. I am not so sure how it will hold with a dead hook from 6500rpm dump.

I think spool would be better but there is definitely a comprimise driving the car with the spool.

I just destroyed mine at the Thunder Shootout. 12 bolt Moser, 33 spline, Eaton. T-brake 200 shot = BOOM

Dont get stranded somewhere on the street. Get a spool.

Im an M6 with Moser 12 bolt and 33 spline with Eaton. Mine hald through 5 low 10 second passes with a best of 10.0 at 138 with a 1.44 sixty foot.
However...it did begin to get one wheel peel badly on the street shortly after that. I didnt want to destroy that Posi since its about a $500 unit...so I bought a spool. I will use the posi if I go to more of a street setup. But right now Im gearing up for some hard runs...so spool is what I need.

Keep in mind...if you go to a spool. You have to buy a specific spool. Richmond uses a 30 degree spline...which is different from Mosers 45 degree spline axles. Cant use the Richmond. Moser does not make a spool that will work with the combo you bought. Something about the spline lenght. So if you bought an entire Moser rear with an Eaton posi and 33 spline axles...MOSER DOES NOT MAKE A SPOOL THAT FITS. I know...i couldnt believe it either. I called moser and they actually refered me to Strange. They make the correct spool with the correct spline angle and the correct spline engagement length. Also..your gears will not work with the spool/ That EAton posi is a 3 seiers cariier. All spools are 4 series carriers. So youll need new gears too if you go spool.

I JUST got mine completed and it took some time to get all this info...and I purchased several of the wrong things in the process.

Shoulda got a 9 inch!!! Damn!

383LQ4SS - thanks for all the help, i really didn't know what i got myself into when i bought the 12 bolt....i should have gotten the 9 inch but i really never thought id be making this much power ever (and i'm just getting started.....I'm doing the final assembly on my 427 in may!!!)....I guess I'll give strange a call.....

EVIL - i should've done what you did.........i think my 12 bolt is the only thing i really ever regret buying for this thing!

250 sounds better to me, but that's just my opinion

i sprayed 260 on the dyno (stock bottom end)....going to back that down a little to keep it alive! (until I finish the big motor anyway)

My 33 spline Eaton only lasted less than 10 passes (1.50 60ft.). Get the spool, it's not that bad on the street.
