Running a 12.00 sec index with a 11 sec car...
What is the best strategy for slowing down about .5 consistantly?
I have no cage so I cant run in any of the classes that call for me to make <12 sec passes.
I know the is a newbie question so please excuse.
My car is MTI H/C ,X1, Yank SS4000, 16X26 ET streets

I did this in the NMCA EFI index class last year and I lowered my launch rpm's and lowered my shift point quite abit. You still want to be about 1/2 a tenth to a 10th faster than the index and coast through the traps starting at a given point like maybe the 1000' mark. Worked for me. I won 1st place in Pittsburgh.
Good luck.
Tom
Good luck.

If your talking about running at the SBSO, I believe its at an IHRA track. I think you can run 11.5 with no cage. You can always add some wieght to slow the car down. Full tank of gas, full wind shield washer tank, etc.

dood. if you are even thinking of competing (or qualifying) for a bracket class, you need to have major seat time. practice practice practice. your first couple of events might not be exactly like you planned. lol. you need to know exactly how your car runs, when to lift, where to lift, and hitting a great reaction time.

just an indea, but go to the track and start adding some weight to the car (not sure how, throw something in the back?), but drive the car like you normally do, until you get your desired et. just a thought, good luck!

James and Sheila (TXCAMSS) has done it before, may want to find them in the Texas forum.
Are you just not wanting to ever put a roll bar in the car? Why not put a roll bar in and try to be right at the 3350 raceweight limit??

easiest way is to do a combination of the ideas above.
Lower the launch to a VERY consistant RPM and then drop shift RPM to a good level to not stress it as much.
Then take and build a Throttle body stop so you only hit say 80% throttle every time.
Always leave some room for a run at the end

I can just see the 2 cars volleying back and forth, one goes in front, slows down, the other goes in front, slows down ... etc
