I'm pretty much sold on that bumper support, looks like it fits really nice in there. I was going to do the fuse box thing like you did but decided to just remove it all and tuck it on the inside of the fenderwell instead of leaving the wires in the engine bay.

Excuse the dirtyness and rust (from all the grinding i've done in the engine bay)

cover for it

Well, I'm still fighting an oil problem with the fitting in the valley cover. I put a -12 baffled fitting in there and it didn't seem to help much so i took it a step further. There is a turkey race this Sunday which will probably be my last race for the year so i plan on testing it out then. It's getting old pouring out a half a quart of $9/ quart oil every other pass.

Wow I would have never thought there was that much oil splashing up through the "lifter valley" of one of these motors. You think it has anything to do with the placement of your fitting towards the rear of the block, where the factory oil drainback hole is? Maybe moving it in the middle would take care of it (if you had it to do all over again)?

This wont work if your using a vacuum pump. It will help if your just venting to a can. The best spot is in the middle of the valley cover because its between the two cam windows. Reason I know is I have a much more sophisticated baffle system than this and it still sucks some oil. Good luck, and STOP BUYING $9 oil!!

unfortunately i dont have a vacuum pump on here yet. the plan is to get one over the winter. how do you recommend me to vent it with the addition of the vacuum pump? i think that under high rpms the oil just flying off the cam and splashing directly onto the fitting and thats why its sucking so much into the can. im all ears if someone has a better way to do it.

If you plan on racing 1/8th mile then you might be fine. The majority of the oil is sucked the other end of the track. I was thinking of pulling from both valve covers if my problem got worse. Pulling from both cuts the CFM in half so it should pull less oil.

i dont think i can fit a fitting into my valve covers with the rocker setup, thats why it went into the valley. im thinking when the pump goes on i will try to put the fitting at the front of the valley cover. out of curiousity why would my current set up not work with a vacuum pump? i know nothing about them except for the fact that i need one.

The vacuum pump will suck the oil right threw that box you made. I have 5 baffles in the box I made and it extends to the middle of the block where its sealed and it can only pull from 4 small holes at the top and I still get oil.

I haven't quite figured out how to do it right either lol. Mine doesn't pull a whole lot of oil anymore but it still does. 1/8th mile racing wont be a problem. I don't have any pics before we welded it up.

i ended up getting a new valley cover and ditching the -12 line i had in there. i was having alot of oil misting too so i ended up just wrapping a rag around the filter which seemed to help. i have since went to a vacuum pump but havent yet been out in the car to see the improvement.
