Default Picked up a new set of Goodyears.

I love the Goodyears. Great tire. They Hook! They look Cool! But, they cost alot, and don't last as long as the M/T. But, I dig them.

I just got a new set of Goodyears today. 30x9x15 Baby.

I am going to measure the roll out on my current 29x10.5x15 M/T and compare the new Goodyear 30x9x15's. I got the medium compound and the extra rollout. I am curious to see how much bigger the Goodyears are.

I want to see if they(new Goodyears) will help my 60ft and make her run through the traps in the 1/4 instead of banging the rev limiter a 100 feet from the finish line.

I doubt my 26" ET Drags will do me any good any longer with the new set-up. I am looking to "try" a new set of tires. Please keep us informed on the Goodyears. I am looking at them and Hoosiers.

With 4.30's what would you recommend with my set up? Any help is appreciated.

Navy David SS,

I would go with a 28' slick. You can get a 28x9x15 or a 28x10.5x15 under a F-Body. I have run both.

gator's 99TA,
I have run the 30x9x15's before. Yes, the NHRA S/E guys use these slicks. This is why we run the 5.13 gears and the 30x9x15 slicks. We want to try and run in S/E n the very near future.

I've found most S/E guys use m/t or hoosiers, but there are a few that run good years, but not near as many. I know a guy who ran them and switched to m/t and got another 50-60 passes! Same compound too!

Good luck with the new treads!

Derek,

I know, I wont get as many runs on the Goodyears but the roll out difference from the M/T 29.5x10.5 to the Goodyear 30x9x15 is 94 to 98 inches of roll out. I am hoping that the larger roll out will help me on the big end. I just could not pass up the great deal I got on them. Buy 1 get one free.

We may have to clearence them. They are at least 2 inches taller than the M/T. I will get them mounted on Monday and make sure they fit. If they don't. Then it is up to Madmans shop to do a litle rubbing.

havent any of yall tried radials?? they hook better and theyre a tenth quicker on our corvette and they dont grow. And i am TOLD that if every weekend or so if you turn them around you can get another 30-40 passes although we havent tried it yet to justify. we get about 90-100 passes out of the vette without turning them around.

I have not tried the radials yet. I have a couple buddies that run them. I was told they are great for good hooking tracks but on grass root tracks they don't hook well.

I rotate my slick every two weekends. Right now I have over 120 passes on the M/T. Hell, I have 87 runs on them since Jan. 3rd.

The new skins go on Manday.
