Default Battery Relocation Fuse

Relocating battery to back.
I remember, that you need a 250 amp fuse.
The question is, do you fuse the ground side or hot side at the battery.
Also were do you get the fuse and fuse holder at.

The fuse will function properly on either side of the battery. Common practice in general is to fuse on the + side for all circuits, and I don't know/care what the rulebooks say pertaining to racing. They might have a rule regarding it.

I've always in the past fused the hot side. Then I saw a wiring diagram with the negative side fused. Now thinking about, being a DC circuit, that might be the best place for it. You have to have a ground from the battery or nothing on the car will work.
I may be wrong. Like always. LOL.

I used a ANL type 200 Amp fuse. Google it, they are cheap and all over. Or go to your local stereo store.

I used a ford solenoid in trunk next to battery...12" of wire from + side to switch, 16" of wire to noid, 13' or so to starter.

This way, using the solenoid, the wire to the starter in only hot during cranking.

I used welding cable (O-guage)

I used 8guage to battery.

IF you plan to hit the dragstrip with the battery in the trunk; the disconnect is a must.
IF you ran the alt. wire to the starter, the switch won't work.

What size fuse or circuit breaker would you suggest for a 402?
I popped two 150 amp fuses cranking the starter to prime motor before first start.

Wow, blowing a 150 amp fuse just to prime the motor.
Are the plugs in or out, when trying to prime the motor?
How long does it take to blow the fuse? Instancetly or does it turn over a
few times?
Is the starter good?

The plugs are in and coils disconnected. Starter is new.
I put in a 200 amp fuse and that worked.
