![Question](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Or anything but ur crank, alternator, and w/p?
Now I know the first suggestion someone's going to make is to get an electric w/p, but as of right now, my wallet won't allow that. So I'm considering deleteing everything I don't need to free up some power.
Now, back when I played with fox body mustangs, it was as simple as buying a shorter belt, removing the pumps (p/s, smog, a/c), grinding the nub off the back of the tensioner to allow turning it, and bam ur done.
Is there a simple way to do this on LS cars? I know the a/c runs on a different belt, which I removed. So if any of u have done this, please guide me thru it. Any tips, help, pics, etc are greatly appreciated. Oh, and if u know the belt size ill need, that would also be helpfull.
Thanks,
Dale

I run a Pinto steering rack, no alternator, electric water pump, and a belt driven fuel pump. Car is pretty light at 2115 fully loaded. With skinny tires up front and a light weight car, power steering is not needed.

the belt route you want is to go around tensioner > under wp > alt > crank > tensioner
iirc you might have to take out the top alt bolt because its in the way of the belt, if you do the short belt mod at the track youll be fine i did it many times, and then put the bolt back in
the belt length you want is 52.5"
hope that helps
as of now my belt is 32" just running crank to alt

I'm just running from crank to alt and my belt is 33.5".
I'm actually running a 5 rib belt instead of 6.
So far no issues at all.

you dont have to remove the bolt, you can trim the front off the bracket and still run the bolt (a shorted bolt, or shorten the bolt) been fine for years.
stock setup is
bolt>bracket>alt>bracket>block
new is
bolt>alt.>bracket>block
