How much louder did your car get when you removed sound deadening under the carpet?

I didn't really notice any difference. Even my lightweight carpet seems to quiet the interior down a bit. A few weeks ago when I had the carpet out (I was repainting my roll bar), I made a trip to the track. Very very loud and obnoxious inside the car with no carpet and open headers. It's not so bad (even with open headers) with the carpet in.
I still do have the minimal little bit of sound absorption material that came on the lightweight carpet. There's so little, I doubt it's more than .5 pounds or so.

I tore all of that stuff off my stock carpet, and I could not tell much of a difference. Just a little more road noise I guess.
Not a big deal really.

I'm getting some lightweight carpet to compliment my roll-cage install, and was wondering if I should or shouldn't keep the sound deadening.
My car is already really loud, with a big cam and true dual exhaust without cats that dumps underneath the car.
The car is my daily driver, and if the difference is minimal, I'll pull out the sound deadening. If its noticable, then I'll keep it.

I have custum light weight carpet in the Hot Rod and it is pretty loud with Hookers and custum y-pipe with a single turndown at the rearend but I think that it is more the 5.13 gears than anything else.
Good luck to ya.
PS. The Hot Rod is a race car that I drive on the street, not a street car I race at the track.

verbs - I'm also thinking about doing the same thing since I just ordered my Wolfe cage as well. I'd like to offset that 70lbs (or however much it weighs) as much as I can.

just did lightweight carpet and am running it "backhalved" for now. It isnt as noisy as I thought it would be. It is just loud enough to keep my wife outta the car.
Havent ran it with the Hooker muffler dropped yet, but with it on it is very tolerable.
