Default Weld Alumastar difference?

What's the difference between the 15x3.5" version and the 15x4" version?

15x3.5" 4.75pattern 1.75BS = $377 through Summit
15x4" 4.75pattern 1.75BS = $225 through Summit

What constitutes the $150 difference per rim?

Anybody running a 15x4 up front on an F-body? Getting aftermarket brakes will save me from having to run spacers, so that gets rid of the 5/16" spacer and doesn't push the rim too far out. Anybody know?

Nice high quality high-end rim...good choice much nicer then a prostar or draglite.

Price difference...Different rim, different setup, more material...possibly why there is a difference in price...I can't say for sure as I'm not a weld representative.

I feel our Bogarts are a better choice...If you want a lighter rim w/comparable prices were I can set them up specifically for your setup w/very good backspace options, let me know. Give us a call and I can discuss what we have to offer for you 412 508 0634. I will be here today until ~4pm.

The 3.5 is the new one piece rim and the 4" is the older 2 piece version.

Rick may be correct...I forgot they changed the runner design on that.

I just got a pair of the 15x4 Alumastars delivered today, from Jegs. Yea they`re nice and shinney but they are the same damn design as the Prostars I already have. The 15x3.5 one peice are the design like the prostocks use, which is the style I wanted, so I`m gonna see if I can return them for the style I wanted.

the new alumastars are a piece of jewlery. not even close to comparing it to the older "prostar" looking wheel.

The alumastar 2's are definitly nicer and lighter then the original alumastar in my opinion.

...consider our Bogart Aluma Light front runner, as you will not only have a lighter rim then both welds, you will save a substantual amount of money.

A lot of us are using the one piece Alumastars. Another wheel that looks good on the front is the Weld Pro Magnum. The cool thing about that wheel is that it looks good with any wheel combo on the back, Alumastar or others.

That one piece is the wheel I wanted and Jegs sent me the old style . No comparison the new ones look so much better.

They offer both wheels still. It's not like one was obsoleted over the other. They are all still called Alumastar 2.0, so you do need to get the part number correct. If you got the wheels you didn't expect Jegs will take them back and send you the correct ones if you contact them.

I bought my Bogarts from Steve at SJM. I am very happy with the choice I made over the Welds. Not that there is anything wrong with the Welds, I just love my Bogarts. They look awesome and fit even better, besides they are damn light!!

The one piece fronts will fit with minimal if any grinding to the calipers. I have the old style Aluma Stars and the fronts still require spacers, but the 15x10 rears required very little grinding.. A friend just bought the new style and i tried them on..Very nice..

steve10...Can you pm me a price for a set of Force 5 fronts? (15x3.5) My friend bought a set of rears that were already beadlocked for his Outlaw 10.5 car and is looking for a set of fronts.

PM's aren't turned on...so we can't PM folks...e-mail me if you would like more specifics at sjmmanufacturing@verizon.net .

Our front runners are SUBSTANUALLY less expensive...you NEED drag brakes for these to fit as the center of mass is moved inward more vs our other series...there are also other variances that make the rims different then a P1 rim.

This is one time where our pricing is seems inexpensive compared to others...typically many guys are compariing them to prostars/draglites which are welds inexpensive line of wheels and folks think they are high $$.

...guys keep in mind, even though a rim may even weigh the same...the closer the center of mass the wheel has, the lighter it will appear...ours have a very narrow center of mass AND is lighter from a static stanpoint..

now see, my alumastar fronts required very little grinding of the caliper as long as you run the 1.75 bs. 10 min./side and i was done. the rears however with 15x8's and 5.5 bs required quite a bit, but many have done it so i knew it was only a matter of time til i got it to fit without a spacer. and i did too. yup. sure did. uh huh. anyway.

later,
Dave

ps-don't even bother running that 1 pc. Alumastar with stock brakes! it'll look like crap!
