Default bias ply slick vs radial slick

looking to go with a radial, but i hear they wear out quicker than a std bias ply.
any truth to this?
going with a 29.0x9.0x15 either hoosier or M/T

You will probably get half as many runs out of M/T radials over bias ply tires. The good news is that they will be as much as a tenth faster in the 1/4.

I am getting alot more passes out of the Hoosier radials than we ever did with the bias ply. The key is running alot of air pressure and a short burnout.

Stupid Question....I know it's relative to a few different variables but how much is a lot of air pressure for the Hoosier radials?

When new we run between 22-24lbs. Never run below 19lbs.

I change my radials at half life. They are still good for bracket racing, but not for what I do. I sell them to local racers who run them until the wear bars are gone!

22-24pounds?
wow. on a 9" wide tire, thats not leaving much contact, or is it?
i was leaning towards the hoosiers, as they are 2 tenths of an inch taller than the M/T, and i need everybit of it to make 1/4 mile with my gear/tire combo.
what type of power level are you running these pressures with?
im bumping on the door of 1.4x short times once i zip tie the heads on.

big thanks!

Hmmm, very interested in this. I've never tried to run more than 17psi in my ET Streets.

you dont want to.
madman is referring to a radial slick.
depending on power, i wouldnt run more than 18 ever in an et street.
i had excellent results running mine at 15-16. 3460 raceweight.

I have had the radials on cars from 400rwhp cars to NOS fed 800rwhp cars. The air pressure stays pretty close to the same on all of them.

My MT radials wouldn't hook at 16....but they dead hook at 19.....MT's website says to start at 19 in a heavy auto and it works.....

Track prep sucks at U.S. 41. I run 12 psi in the MT ET Drag Radials. On my old car, I got more passes out of a ET Drag Radial than I did with a bias ply ET Drag. I actually ran quicker with the drag radial as well.
